robmypro Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Hey guys I am coming from Falcon so I know a thing or two about complex study sims. I just pre-ordered it, so what is the best approach to get up to speed with this A10? In my Falcon days I got lucky and fell in with a couple of guys that really knew Falcon well, so my learning curve was pretty short (2-3 months). Any resources besides the manual (obviously going to dive into that) for the new A10 pilot?
sobek Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Training missions. Quickstart manual. That's about it. Everyones on the same page right now. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
robmypro Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 Okay thanks Sobek. Appreciate the quick response!
aaron886 Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Pick your way through the tutorials and study the manual! It's really not that complicated, especially if you have the sensor background of a Falconeer. I've found that the greatest transitions are in the CDU, DSMS, and TAD. The best way to get em down is just to study the manual. The audio in the tutorials really helped me. Some of the tutorials may screw up on you on the way through... sometimes they don't seem to recognize actions and just stop progressing.
robmypro Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 see, here come the falcon guys :) Did somebody mention study sim?

Shake3000 Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 ... Some of the tutorials may screw up on you on the way through... sometimes they don't seem to recognize actions and just stop progressing. Sometimes you can remedy this by just continuing the mission and the training will continue from certain points like passing a waypoint or activating this or that system.
Steel Jaw Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 One thing I learned with Falcon was that the process of mastering it is a rewarding journey on its own. "You see, IronHand is my thing" My specs: W10 Pro, I5/11600K o/c to 4800 @1.32v, 64 GB 3200 XML RAM, Red Dragon 7800XT/16GB, monitor: GIGABYTE M32QC 32" (31.5" Viewable) QHD 2560 x 1440 (2K) 165Hz.

BladeLWS Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 So far I'm loving the journey, I cannot wait for the printed manual, it sucks only looking at one page at a time on my ipad lol.
