Bulletstop Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Ok folks I need some instruction. I have read the manual and I am wondering if I am just that bad. I have set the min alt and been in a shallow dive from about 6k to 3k and I miss everytime. Ok maybe not everytime but enough to be wondering if it is me. I mean I get close and no I am just ripping a single mk-82 I usually have it set for 2. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated as I am the suck at ccip bombing :). Bullet I7 4790K running at 4390 with a gigabyte board with 16 gigs of ram with an Asus gtx 660-ti and 2 tb of hard drive space on 2 wd hard drives. A X-65F Hotas with trackir4 and pro combat peddles. A kick butt home built machine unfortunately running a windows 7 OS.
Revelation Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Higher altitude, steeper dive - works for me. (almost every time) Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT
nomdeplume Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Practice makes perfect, but as Revelation says, CCIP is best employed in a fairly steep dive. I also remember reading that a good pilot will get about 50% hit-rate in CCIP bombing. That was for the A-10A I believe, but I doubt CCIP pipper accuracy has increased all that much in the 'Charlie'. Obviously if you fly right up to the target and release the bomb you'll get better accuracy, but from reasonable distances that won't get you killed you're better off dropping en-masse. If you want to plink accurately, use guided munitions.
159th_Viper Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated as I am the suck at ccip bombing :). The guys on the ground will probably disagree :D In any event, don't stress it too much and just keep on practicing. As said by previous posters, there's a reason they're called 'dumb' bombs! Another point - what are you comparing your 'success/failure' rate to? Hopefully not LockOn as with DCS you not only have a high-fidelity flight model to contend with but the attendant Advanced Weapons Modelling and Atmospheric conditions affecting said ordinance etc etc (not sure as to the extent of implementation just yet so don't quote me). It's a whole new ball-game and your performance is probably satisfactory considering the circumstances. Enjoy :) Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Shake3000 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Simhq has a great article on ccip bombing http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_101a.html The thing that struck me most is that you're not supposed to use the rudder for aiming.

Thanks for the link Shake. Bulletstop Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Update, I have tried many times and it seems by coming in at a steeper angle does the trick. Thanks folks for the help :) Bullet I7 4790K running at 4390 with a gigabyte board with 16 gigs of ram with an Asus gtx 660-ti and 2 tb of hard drive space on 2 wd hard drives. Poor mans sniper Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Anti-tank cluster bombs if you are inaccurate is good. Don't have to hit the target, just have to be around the target.
Bulletstop Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 @slayer lol actually I am very happy with the way MK-82's are working now. by coming in at a steeper angle they hit a good deal of the time :) @poormansniper it works with those too :) Bullet I7 4790K running at 4390 with a gigabyte board with 16 gigs of ram with an Asus gtx 660-ti and 2 tb of hard drive space on 2 wd hard drives.
