Set up the deadzones to the smallest size where the "hands off" spring-loaded joystick returns a "0" value no matter how it was released. Some joysticks will register a value other than 0 depending on how they lean in the spring center or how they don't center all the way at no hand pressure. Perfect hardware would allow no deadzone. Get it as small as you can.

Curves are a tradeoff due to the mathematics of it. Assuming you want 0% stick deflection to equal 0% control input and 100% to equal 100%, any less-sensitive area must have a corresponding high-sensitivity area to connect these 0/0 100/100 dots.

After deadzone is dealt with, try 50% curvature and then 0%. Then try 40% and then 10%. Bracket what feels like too much and too little. If 15% feels like too little and 25% feels like too much, then you have narrowed down what "right" is. If you just work in one direction, you lack the feeling of the contrary negative effect is.

Initially I had a higher curvature and I've gone "more linear" over time as I've become more natural with the Ka-50 and sluggish controls were more a hindrance than an aid. Your curvature setting will vary with play style, hardware, and experience.

I have mine set at 25 curve and 5 deadzone and let me tell you this feels like a brand new game! I can hit targets 100% of the time with rockets now. Before I had mine set to 20 deadzone and -3 curve and the Helo was bouncing all over the place lol.

Haha! I'm using 0 curve! And now i realize how stupid i am.. :)

Gonna try 25 tonight, perhaps i don't have to curse like a maniac when trying to shoot rockets.. ;)

Bucic believes in setting the "User Curve" setting to mimic dead zones that have a curvy junction between the dead zone area and the normal range area instead of the abrupt slope change that the traditional dead zone junction has. You might like this method more.

Also, this is exactly the right forum section. Setting up the game is normal forum material and does not belong in the bugs and troubleshooting forum.

I set mine for 40 curve, dead zone of 15.

The dead zone covers the maximum slack area before I'm pushing against the spring. Works great and permits for accurate flying without sudden large control inputs at the end of the travel range which makes hard maneuvers harder to achieve safely.

Curves wouldn't be needed if the stick was longer. A downside of short sticks I guess.

Best regards,

Tango.

I meant the Input and Output forum section. There's not a snowball's chance in hell that similar questions will be game-specific. Not to mention that now LO FC 2, DCS BS and DCS W Beta share the same GUI.

I set mine for 40 curve, dead zone of 15.

Hooooly! What do you use? A keyboard-> joystick emulator? :D
