MUNKEN Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 (edited) Hi I have this bug where after I have set the TACAN to 16X and switched the knob from 'off' to 'TR' it guides me to the beacon (as it should) and the text says something about that the Bearing Indicator 1 is pointing at the beacon, but then nothing else happens, there are no more steps, the "training text" don't appear again. In the introduction to the training mission it tells that I will learn about TACAN and ILS, but I never get to the ILS part which I think I would find very useful to know about. Anyone else have this problem? Edited October 15, 2010 by MUNKEN
EvilBivol-1 Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 That point is where the Nav. training mission ends in the open beta version. ILS will be covered in a separate Landing mission in the next update. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
PE_Tigar Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 In Navigation mission I can't even get to that part, it gets stuck at the straight and level flight at 16k feet telling me to "Keep my speed at 300 KT" while I can only manage 280 IAS on that altitude with full throttle. BTW, maybe I should RTFM (didn't - seldom do even for the real planes :D), but seems to me that the autopilot is unable to fly to steering points or hold the flight path.
nomdeplume Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 In Navigation mission I can't even get to that part, it gets stuck at the straight and level flight at 16k feet telling me to "Keep my speed at 300 KT" while I can only manage 280 IAS on that altitude with full throttle. The speeds tend to be incorrect as they're set for ground speed, not IAS. The range is 170 to 190 "m/c", but I don't know exactly what that's measuring. At 16,000 feet 260 IAS is sufficient to satisfy the requirement. The mission also doesn't appear to enforce any particular altitude requirement, so feel free to fly lower if you want. BTW, maybe I should RTFM, but seems to me that the autopilot is unable to fly to steering points or hold the flight path. The A-10C doesn't have a route-following autopilot.
MasterZelgadis Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Will the HSI be part of any training? or is it more or less obsolete, and you use the TAD for detemining, wheter you are on course or not? I was so proud I understoor the CDI in the A-10A, but in the A-10C it seems to work totally different "Sieh nur, wie majestätisch du durch die Luft segelst. Wie ein Adler. Ein fetter Adler." http://www.space-view.net
Whippler Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Will the HSI be part of any training? or is it more or less obsolete, and you use the TAD for detemining, wheter you are on course or not? it's definately needed for ILS landing on zero visibility, Landing blinded.
MasterZelgadis Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 But for Navigation? In the A-10A the CDI-Arrow points to the steerpoint (like bearing marker 2 in the A-10C), and the CDI shows wheter you are on the course line or not. In the A-10C I am on course line according to TAD, but the CDI is far off the center, and not even pointing near the STP (in steerpoint mode) "Sieh nur, wie majestätisch du durch die Luft segelst. Wie ein Adler. Ein fetter Adler." http://www.space-view.net
EvilBivol-1 Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Yes, some additional information on the use of the HSI has been added to the Nav mission for the next update. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
