Headspace Posted November 9, 2010 Author Posted November 9, 2010 I've added captions to the JDAM video, but none of the other videos have them. Based on feedback I've received, I"m going to hold off on captions. There will be two upcoming videos. 1. A short one on how to add the JTAC with the mission editor. 2. Dealing with medium range SAMs. The MRFCS/Trim part 2 video is still on hold pending some final resolution with the FM or a later beta. The SAM video probably won't come out until the end of the month, since I'm going to be gone for two weeks. Just wanted to give people the heads up. 1
CrashEd Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Awesome, I'm looking forward to both of those, in particular the JTAC creation in the ME.

CrashEd Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Heh, yeah just seen that, but thanks  Hope he gets it up on YT soon as I'm away from my PC at the mo.
Headspace Posted November 18, 2010 Author Posted November 18, 2010 Alright, figured you guys deserved an update. The next video is definitely going to be SAM suppression. I figured this would be a 'fantasy scenario' involving the A-10, but I've been reading Smallwood's Warthog: Flying the A-10 in the Gulf War. Believe it or not, A-10s were actually tasked for SEAD-style missions during the GW when dedicated SEAD assets were overtasked. Amazing, right? Hoping to get this video completed before the end of the month after I get back from vacation.
CrashEd Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Sounds awesome mate  Enjoy your vacation in the meantime.
Blacknemisis Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Can we get a Vid on how to use radios? That would help out alot.
Headspace Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 Can we get a Vid on how to use radios? That would help out alot. I plan on eventually releasing a development video of the Teamspeak 3 plugin I'm working on in action, which will have some radio use involved.
Blacknemisis Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 THANKS!!! For now I will just use easy comms lol!
gear_monkey Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Headspace what I want to know is why you seem to experience ZERO FPS drop when you active the maverick seeker. I have what I consider to be a pretty powerfull pc and everything is smooth until I select the mav and its now slideshow time. I know there are threads on this.............how are you not seeing this?? my pc: win xp 4gigs ram Athlon PHenom II x4 955 Black Edition eVga Nvidia GTX 460 OC version 1gig Win 10 64bit; 32 GB DDR4 3200 Ram; ASUS MoBo; 1TB SSD;Intel i7 8700K; GTX 1080ti 11GB; Thrustmaster Warthog;Odyssey + VR
CrashEd Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) Probably not the place to discuss this, but...Your processor is no slouch and your card is probably the same as mine. I notice no FPS penalty when using the TGP or MAV seeker. Could be a Win7 thing? (better hyperthreading - just a guess). May be worth running some system diagnostic tools to see if you have any bottlenecks. Edited November 26, 2010 by CrashEd
Headspace Posted November 26, 2010 Author Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) Actually, you guys, my processor is a Q9550. While it's on the high-end of the pre-i7 era, it's not what you would call "cutting edge." It's more than enough to run DCS though. But here's the story: There's a lot that goes into the video production, voiceover work, etc that you don't see in the final product. One such technique (and we've had discussions about this--I believe some of the other people such as Tyger who do vids use similar methods) is to record in 1/2 or 1/4 speed and then speed it up in post, then overlay the original audio. That's probably what you're seeing here. It's bad form to distract the viewer with framerate stutter, even if it happens on virtually every setup. Edited November 26, 2010 by Headspace
Heli Shed Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Yep. I record at 1/4 speed, 10fps locked, then speed up x 4 and add audio file as a seperate track with narration. End result is a very smooth video. Downside? well 87 GB of raw footage (FRAPS) to record my Black Shark video! ;-) 'T' Come pay us a visit on YouTube - search for HELI SHED
gear_monkey Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Thank you headspace for the reply. I hope I didn't sidetrack a great thread. Win 10 64bit; 32 GB DDR4 3200 Ram; ASUS MoBo; 1TB SSD;Intel i7 8700K; GTX 1080ti 11GB; Thrustmaster Warthog;Odyssey + VR

Headspace Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 Just a quick update to let you guys know that the delay in getting the SAM interdiction video out is due to the removal of Nevada. However, Beta 3 also removed the ghost RWR threats, which were an annoyance, so it's not all bad.
RSharpe Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 (edited) Video 1 is fantastic. I need some help though as I'm not quire sure how to clear markpoints after you're done with one run and would like to reset for a second? Does anyone have some advice? THanks Edited December 21, 2010 by RSharpe

tdar Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Just been watching your Maverick guides, excellent work! I was having serious issues using the TGP in conjunction with the Mav but it's all sorted now after seeing your vid. Going to try the multiple JDAM drop now. Looking forward to your SAM vid when its out!
