Frogfoot1606687865 Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Hi, Last night I flew a mission and ended up getting the Lightning pod all tangled up. The TAD displayed 'Gimbal lock' and the diamond icon on the TAD was wandering around the screen. I eventually untangled it by flying in circles. but I couldn't get it to 'go boresight' by pressing china hat aft short. What is the correct procedure to a) avoid it happening in the first place, b) quickly rectify it if it does happen. aaron886 Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Sometimes I find if you slew it around a little, then hit China Hat Aft, it'll re-center.
Fish Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 (edited) If the TGP is totally lost, i try to put the steerpoint in the hud and slave TGP to it with china fwd (or aft, cant remember). Then i make TGP soi, to get control. If not, i make a target in the hud with TMS up long, then slave TGP to it with china . Have noted sometimes, if steerpoint is on the hud, and i make a target point separate on the hud, TGP wants to slave to steerpoint instead of target point. I wonder if this is happening when steerpoint is outside hud. Would explain why sometimes its difficult to get TGP to look in front! SinandGrin Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Slew it around like aaron said to get it off any area or point track, then you should be able to boresight it with the china hat aft short command.
Mobius1_MWI Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 You can switch from A-G to standby than right back to A-G. It re-centers it but removes it as SOI. For those of us that don't have a china hat switch to use yet...
Apples Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Just hit C a few times to center it. Goes the same for Mavs. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 6 Monitors, 5 Video Cards, 90inch Flat Screen, Intel Bad Ass 2 @ 72.6Ghz, Atari Hotas!!!
