  1. Glad it helped to get you started with the new HOTAS. Let me know if you have any questions dokken1212.
  2. Oh just that if you hit the weapon select button to engage an ACM mode, it automatically puts you into A/A mode even though the boat switch hasn't moved. So then if you move the boat switch from center to FWD position it will actually move you from A/A mode back to NAV mode. You can just click the cockpit A/A master mode button though and things are then back in sync.
  3. Yes, sort of. DCS still does not allow for this control natively, although I hear this might be possible by editing some LUA scripts but I worry about having to backup and restore these after DCS updates so for the moment I solved it using a TARGET profile. See the attached screenshot where I used the boat switch with a Press and Release setup to make this work. It's not 100% fool proof but it works most of the time.
  4. Hey Sawbuck, the user files have been up for bit now so that temp location was turned off. Sorry I didn't update my original post sooner but I shared the direct link to the files now. Let me know if you have any issues accessing them.
  5. OMG, totally was fixating on the wrong commands. Thanks Flagrum!
  6. I am struggling with this still. I deleted the "FA-18C_hornet" folder in my C:\Users\NAME\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input folder, relaunched DCS beta and saw that my controls reverted to what looks to be default but the the TDC Slew commands are still not available to be defined. Any thoughts? BTW I do occasionally use a TARGET profile, might there be something there I would need to clear out?
  7. Did this resolve the issue for you Tj1376? I also have the TMWH and have this same issue, where my option is grayed out and I cannot make the assessment.
  8. Happy to help here, in fact just take a peek 1 post up where I explained this for CrackerJack. Let me know if you still have any questions though.
  9. Hey CrackerJack - The TMS switch on the stick I have mapped to the Sensor Control Switch (FWD, RIGHT, AFT, LEFT). This switch performs different functions in the jet depending on the Master Mode that you are in (NAV, A/G, A/A), roughly speaking. I think the "A/A" mode I appended in my template example should really be "ACM" for Air Combat Maneuvering but A/A made sense to me. So I do not need a modifier switch, it's already part of the aircraft's logic.
  10. Is there any better workaround/fix available rather than going into the Device Manager to re-enable the throttle? This is an annoying multi-step process. Is this an actual bug in the TARGET software, does Thrustmaster know about it?
  11. Some good ideas here and I thought about doing a few of them too, like the ENG start and APU start, but I hate that switches on the physical HOTAS can get out of sync with the sim. For example, lets say I used the APU start switch to start the APU. In the sim, about 1 minute after the second generator comes online the APU is automatically shutdown and the switch in the aircraft moves back to the OFF position (switch's magnetic hold is released). In this scenario, my physical HOTAS would now be out of sync and I'd have to remember to select the OFF position. I guess that's not a big deal but the OCD in me hates this. I do like the spring loaded ENG OPER (IGN) positions for the ENG Crank L/R, so I may adopt that. For the ENG Idle/OFF action, I just mapped this to buttons 30 (left engine) and 29 (right engine) so that I just move the physical throttle out of the idle detent to start introducing fuel to the engine. I forgot to add this to the template, so I will make that change now and include it in the next version that I release. I do have a question about your last comment about the Master Mode Switch. Are you talking about the RECCE/Event/Mark that I mapped to the Master Mode Control button on the stick or are you saying that you mapped the Master Mode (A/A, A/G) switches to the Boat Switch? I actually like the latter idea and would love to set this up so that moving the Boat Switch FWD engages the A/A Master Mode, returning the Boat Switch to the neutral position sets the Master Mode back to NAV and moving the Boat Switch to AFT would engage the A/G Master Mode. I looked in the DCS controls configuration and unfortunately we don't have mapping options that would allow us to do this with the sim alone and a custom TARGET profile may be needed here. The alternative is to re-select the active A/A or A/G position to return the jet to the NAV Master Mode. Doable but again the OCD in my isn't a huge fan of this workaround. Since I am already playing with a custom TARGET Profile to get the TDC Slew to work with the Slew Control (I used Epoch's guide here) I will look into what it will take to get this Master Mode mapped to the Boat Switch as I mentioned. If this turns out well I can post my results and profiles if folks are interested.
  12. Thanks guys. Let me know if you have any suggestions /improvements in mind.
  13. Since the early access release I have been wanting to have a flexible controls diagram/template and was finding that the PDF versions that many have created were hard for me to edit. Thinking there would be a bit of tweaks needed as this plane evolves and gets updated I decided that I would make my own MS Word based template that I could easily edit. Wanting to share that with the awesome community here, I just posted the .docx template file and a PDF version of my current setup to the User Files section hosted by DCS. Feel free to grab and enjoy them as is, but I am very open to suggestions to enhance this and add some finishing touches. *Direct link to the DCS User Files section: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3300680/
  14. Thank you Ruprecht, I'll take a look at Indesign or some other software to edit the PDF easily as Acrobat has never been that easy for me to work with.
  15. Sorry for the real basic question but how can I edit the PDF file to add my own labels? I have Adobe Acrobat but this looks like an image file in the PDF. Do I need to add Forms or do something to the PDF so that I can type in text to the boxes?
  16. Cool story and very impressive skills.
  17. Sorry for not being fully clear. The folder location that you provided is in fact where I have placed these files. Essentially all I did was mirror this placement from the Open Alpha version for this Open Bata version.
  18. Have folks been able to get this mission to work in DCS World 2.5 beta? I moved the 476vFG Range Target Mod files to /Saved Games/DCS Open Beta folder but I get the following warning when I try to load the mission.
  19. I would like to have it work this way too. Anyone know if that is possible, maybe with a custom profile or a script in the TARGET software?
  20. What is your aircraft’s gross takeoff weight? Are you loaded up with full fuel and ordinance? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. Is the autopilot working? How is it suppose to work, I haven’t been able to get any autopilot function to work but I’m not sure I’m doing it correctly.
  22. A quick search will show this answer has been covered before. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=74738&highlight=eac+switch
  23. I have kept all the installation files since the first beta, so I was just thinking that I could install fresh if I needed to.
  24. Thanks for all your insights. I will probably update to 1.1.0.8 mostly for the cockpit shadowing, that looks amazing! I guess If I really have some odd problems or reduction in FPS I can revert back to 1.1.0.7 for the mean time. Also, just curious, does anyone know if updates will be a constant thing or is there some determined point where ED will stop putting out patches? Is it that they will stop patching things when all the features they set out to include in the sim originally are fully implemented and working correctly, or will they be adding newer things and other features as time goes on? Any guess as to how long these patches will run for? Would it be beneficial at all to included an in-game update function that would check online to see if an update was available and then allow you to download and install the patch from within the game, as apposed to having to watch the forums all the time for the next patch? Not that I mind doing that, I am on here every day almost. :smilewink:
  25. I haven't taken the next step from 1.1.0.7 to 1.1.0.8 because I have been away on business, but I wanted to see if most people thought 1.1.0.8 offered more benefits than issues and was worth it overall. I keep reading about some who experience performance issues (lower FPS), the known tree shadow issue, and a few other little things and I wonder if I should just hold off for 1.1.0.9 or are most people glad they got the latest patch and like what it offers. I'm not sure how long until 1.1.0.9 comes out anyways and I'll be home next Tuesday and will want to fly then for sure! I know it's hard to say yes or no definitively since everyone's circumstances and systems are different, I just wanted to get a general feeling from the community. Are there any real big issues people have had after updating to 1.1.0.8? Also I suppose if I wanted to play online then I would have to get the latest version, correct?
