coolts Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 What if everyone sells their cougars and ED do an F-16 DCS game? I don't want to start a whole, "i want a ....!" thread, but can you imagine the "DOH!" levels? TM would have to do a new Viper throttle because i can't go back to my stick-o-matic Cougar throttle, (even though i loved the moulded feel and used the rotaries now and again). The Hog throttle is the mutts nuts. That kind of paranoia may make me keep the old girl in storage. WarriorX Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Yeah might be a good idea to pick one up on the cheap just for replacement parts... Ragtop Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Well after all my worries about HDNL, and reading that they don't deliver on a Saturday, it turned up this morning! All in one piece, and with a friendly driver. And wow, what a stick. This thing is SUPER solid, and just oozes quality from every surface. Ive had no chance to fly it for more than 5 minutes to take off, and already, I'm in love. After my X-52 which I love, this thing is just another world of quality, simply fantastic. I recommend it to anyone who's on the fence. 476th vFG Alumni
JaseGill Posted October 31, 2010 Author Posted October 31, 2010 Cant agree more with all of the comments above. Such good feel (I used to fly in the RAF and this feels REAL), great buttons/hats etc, amazing in A10C, yet to try in FC2 or BS. No detectable dead-zone and just gives one a big grin using it. All I have to do now is wait (not so patiently) for my pedals... J. redtail Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I put my Cougar on ebay two days ago but now I'm wondering if I should have stored it. And the worst part is I have no idea when I'll be able to purchase the Warthog here in the USA!!! My hands a sweating to get hold of that baby! Why is it taking so long to get these over here? ~Redtail~ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

All I have to do now is wait (not so patiently) for my pedals... J. Regarding the deadzone, that was a funny thing for me. I'm used to having to intentially deadzone every stick I've ever had due to problems at the center, so there I am goofing around in the calibration screen and I pull the stick towards me... hmm what's this.. it's not coming straight down, it's deflecting in a small linear angle to the left.. center it.. ok it goes back to center.. pull it down.. same deflection. I was just thinking what to do about this when I realised it was only happening because it's so damn precise and it was my action that was wrong :D Previously I'd have never noticed it in another stick because the deadzoning would have nullified it for me. Whilst this is causing me to have some oddly unclean turns when I'm at 90 degrees and pulling pitch to whip around (and inadvertently rolling a bit in the process) I think I'm just going to try and get used to it and improve my handling rather than do anything to de-sensitize like with a deadzone setting. Just one more way that this stick rises above the (general) competition though.
