SCRAMJETZ Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Hi, i've reinstalled from scratch 4 times, but still cannot run the training missions, Instant action runs fine... Anybody else have a problem with the training missions after Beta Patch2 installation? Mach10
kylania Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Any specific ones? The three I just tried are working fine (startup, takeoff and mavericks). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
SCRAMJETZ Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) Any specific ones? The three I just tried are working fine (startup, takeoff and mavericks). Thanks for responding. IT would return an error when i clicked on "training", I couldn't access training at all, so i took a look at the dir structure, and saw that the training missions have a "1" "2"... folders under the main folder. So i copied the contents of folder "1" under familiarization to the top folder and was able to launch it. the nex folder/mission is "aircraft operation" and it has 4 sub folders, i haven't tried it yet. When i do i'll let you know. P.S. The others are good to go also. The error message was " [sTRING\MISSION EDITOR\MODULES\ME_TRAINING.LUA 308 attempt to index field temp_options. My os is win7 ultimate x64. Thanks again Mach10 Edited November 2, 2010 by SCRAMJETZ
sweinhart3 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I didnt have problem entering tutorial missions, however, like in the startup and unguided weapons tutorial when the instructor says to press space to continue, space does nothing and I cant get the training mission to proceed. kylania Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Yeah, should be: Training -> en -> Aircraft Operation -> 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 folders Each folder should have a miz and lua folder in it (cept the Landing one, 4, that one is broken/missing). You can just move the miz files up to the main missions folder and run them that way. You shouldn't have to though. The missions have quite a few errors, but they should at least start! heh Are you sure you're running the game as Administrator? sweinhart, sometimes you need to hold down a key or button longer to get it to register. sweinhart3 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 tried that. Held it down several seconds and nothing happened. Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart

thenewarea51 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I'm having the same problem, everytime I select "training" in the main menu, I get the same pop-up as mentioned above. Worked fine in Beta 1, but not in Beta 2. I reinstalled multiple times and turned off UAC and clicked run as admin but no dice. Any ideas yet? Gisen Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 None of the above suggestions fix this. Running as admin does not help. Windows 64 pro, running 32bit a10 for head tracking.
kylania Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Gisen, tried the suggestions from the link ArtMan posted? Any of those (full screen first) work for you? Also, have you tried a full install of the pre-patched Beta 2 client? All Windows updates installed? Gisen Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) As I said, None of the above suggestions fix this. All relevant windows updates are installed. I have not re-downloaded the entire multiple gigs of the game, no and I don't really have time to do so. What's the point of having a patch if it doesn't work? *edit* I don't mean to sound ungrateful for the help but I do not have the time available to waste waiting to download gigs again and again and again. Panzertard Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 See if it helps to clear "DCS A-10c Beta\temp" in the DCS folder. Otherwise, try this path (I can see some of you have almost tried all of the steps, but perhaps not all): - Install to C:\Games\DCS-A10C Beta or to another driveletter. - Apply Beta 2 patch to Beta 1. - Rightclick the "DCS A-10C" icon you use, go to "Compatability" tab, set "Run this program as an administrator". - Repeat for any other DCS icons. - Start DCS, go to options - set fullscreen mode. Do not change too many other options yet. - Playtest Training. - Playtest other missions. - Playtest Training again. Reclear the \temp folder if problem reappears - and report back the results. Thanks :) The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
kylania Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 What's the point of having a patch if it doesn't work? I do not have the time available to waste waiting to download gigs again and again and again. It's a beta. Sometimes that's required during the beta phase. The patch works flawlessly for most of the users. With your setup something is wrong. Just need to try to figure out what that is, sometimes starting from scratch is the way to do that. Good luck, I hope Panzer's suggestions work for you. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
Gisen Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Clearing the temp folder allowed me to run training once, but then when I tried it next time it crashed with the same sort of message. Reinstalling from beta2 full now (yes it took me this long to dl it) Question: won't uninstalling and reinstalling use up some of the activations on this starforce thing?
warpig11 Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 I have found that if I run the quick mission first for a couple of seconds, then I have no problem with the training mission. If I try and run the training mission right away it won't work.
Gisen Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Clean install of beta 2 did not fix the problem. Now I have wasted several activations for no result. I am unhappy. Recap: running 32bit as administrator, clean install, using fullscreen. Game crashes as soon as I click on "training." Error: [string ".\missioneditor\modules\me_training.lua"] in line 308 in func: -> stack [string ".\MissionEditor\modules\MainMenu.lua"] in line 77 in func:func -> stack:[string "./luagui5/Widget.lua" in line 266 in func: ->stack: [string ".\MissionEditor\MissionEditor.lua "] in line 814 in func: Tried without fullscreen, same result. tried running quick mission first, same result.
ilikepie Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 i'm hearing ya.....same thing for me........just lots of random failures...hangs and general all round crap-sandwich's. (not that i'm complaining, as i am sure ED are working their balls off) i found rolling back a driver set (ATI) help a bit, didnt stop crashes but i could play a bit. Training missions for me are a total right off, same as you, not a happy camper about it, but, it what it is, and its just WIP. i went back to B1 to get some training time as some is better than none and its still very satisfying. it will improve, i have no doubt. its just the joys of being a lab rat..... i keep trawling through the forum and try various things,if i find something that works for me i will let you know;) Action After Contemplation
Gisen Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 (edited) Somehow after playing several quick action missions and changing some settings in controls and video options the training missions are now working! Strange as I dont see what I've done differently but good anyway! *edit* except the landing one, it still crashes with a similar message Edited November 7, 2010 by Gisen

Strange as I dont see what I've done differently but good anyway! Thats good news. Now it would be nice to know which settings affect the problem for you guys. If someone is able to replicate this behaviour, return / removal of problem, please post us a list of steps or settings you found to affect it. Thanks :) The mind is like a parachute. Gisen Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 No, not unless you change hardware components on your PC. How many activations should I have? Because it says I have 7 left.
159th_Viper Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Because it says I have 7 left. Correct. You started with eight activations and ten deactivations.
