Revelation Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 64bit, I recommend Win7 Pro 64bit. Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT
MTFDarkEagle Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Doesn't really matter which one, depends on the amount of extra's that you want, but be SURE to get the 64 bit. %sniped ;) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread

Pigmachine Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 It was with a tear to my eye I said goodbye to my old XP 32 pro, that had served me so damn well so many years.. But after installing WIN 7 64 ultimate, I haven't looked back! You can set it up as you like it.. and it's not vista!! that was an operating system I skipped totally! Steel Jaw Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 The 64 bit beta works, just that TrackIR does not support it yet, but Natural Point I am sure will fix this soon. I sure hope so. There's a workaround but you have to leave your pc in driver test mode. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60706 "You see, IronHand is my thing" My specs: W10 Pro, I5/11600K o/c to 4800 @1.32v, 64 GB 3200 XML RAM, Red Dragon 7800XT/16GB, monitor: GIGABYTE M32QC 32" (31.5" Viewable) QHD 2560 x 1440 (2K) 165Hz.
braden Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 gaming pc (gtx295coop, i7-920@4, 6gb ram) has xp32/win7x86/win7x64 on it. both win7's play dcs-10c identically performance wise, but better than xp32 (which stuttered a little, slightly lower framerates)

sungsam Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 so your suggestion is to move on...but will i play other games without a problem or what some people having problems running other games..like MOHHA ...1 thing for sure is that im gonna loose my FALCON:cry:or what about FSX Gia ! Dcs series have better performance on Windows7 x64. For Falcon, additionaly install XP on different partition ( Dual Boot procedure). ;) DCS F16C 52+ w JHMCS ! DCS AH64D Longbow !
coolts Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 (edited) As a test i recently installed win7 32 bit onto an old animation machine, (P4 era dual Xeon w/hyperthreading). This monster cost £££££££ back in the day and came with XP. I installed win7 and it ran faster than with a clean xp install! Windows xperiance score of 5.5. not bad for an old warhorse. good for an office desktop for another 2 years. Conclusion Win7 has far better multicore and memory managememt yiedling smoother operations overall. Think about it. when xp came out 2+ cores and >1gb Ram were unheard of outside the server market. oh, and it fixes all vistas bugs Gia ! Dcs series have better performance on Windows7 x64. With the new NVIDIA drivers, Falcon AF & FF play fine with Win7 x64 Edited November 9, 2010 by coolts [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i7 9700k | 32gb DDR4 | Geforce 2080ti | TrackIR 5 | Rift S | HOTAS WARTHOG | CH PRO Pedals

keyframe Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Also you can install the 32 bit Dcs a10 under 64 bit win 7. It still runs 32 bit apps fine.

braden Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 id recommend dual booting XP and whichever Windows7 you put on. the reason i have all 3 o/s on my pC is that some of my games run much better on one of the o/s's. on my machine: FSX/ARMA2/Blackshark/Flaming Cliffs2 run best under xp32 DCSA10 runs better with either win7 Crysis/BFBC2/DragonAge etc run extremely well under win7x64 Im sure every machine out there might have different results, depending on gfx settings, resolution played you prefer etc...its just nice to have the various o/s there so I can experiment whats best rather than lock myself into 1 o/s and wonder why my game isnt going as fast as others are claiming.
