topdog Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 HMS or not, the Litening II is arguably 30-40 years ahead in signal processing, giving it superior image quality (when saying superior, i actually mean they don't even play in the same ballpark), target aquiring capabilities, interfacing options. There's a lot of stuff that the shkval can do, but the TGP does it so much better, it's hard to speak of the same feature. I found a place where they're in the same ballpark. They're both equally good at destroying our frame rates when switched on :P [ i7 2600k 4.6GHz :: 16GB Mushkin Blackline LV :: EVGA GTX 1080ti 11GB ] [ TM Warthog / Saitek Rudder :: Oculus Rift :: Obutto cockpit :: Acer HN274H 27" 120Hz :: 3D Vision Ready ]
uksub Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I work in the Defence industry and recently went for a site visit with BAE Systems at the facility where they design and build the Helmet mounted display system for the Typhoon. They showed us a finshed version and it was incredible. They project the display onto the underside of the Visor rather than use a monocle like the apache system so the pilot can see virtually all the instrumentation even if he isnt looking at it. Each one costs about £250K. 1
StrongHarm Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Aliiiiiiiiice!!!! It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
power5 Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Wow, and I thought our military contractors charged the military insane prices. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Aaron i7 2600k@4.4ghz, GTX1060-6gb, 16gb DDR3, T16000m, Track IR5 BS2-A10C-UH1-FC3-M2000-F18C-A4E-F14B-BF109
