fedaykin Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 In the shop you offer both the downloadable version of BS and the DVD version for the same price. If I order the DVD box, will I also get access to the downloadable version? I like to have physical copies of my games, but I also like to have them fast, so I'm hoping that I can order the DVD, but start playing the game before the DVD arrives. Is this possible?
kylania Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Get them both, just to be sure! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
fedaykin Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 :doh:You didn't understand my question.
Boberro Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 You buy physical version so you have only that and you can't download anything. Only downloadable versions can be downloaded as well ;) I recommend download option - IMHO fast and you can easily burn on DVD. What for plastic BOX ? :) Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
EtherealN Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 DVD = DVD Download = Download That simple. :) If you want a physical copy, like Boberro mentioned, burn the download to a disc. ;) The main advantage of the DVD to the Download is for people who live with connections that are capped for total traffic/month. An alien concept for me, but relatively common. The only difference between them is the delivery method. swift Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 If I order the DVD box, will I also get access to the downloadable version? As far as I know, no, owning the DVD doesn't give you access to the download version. Like owning a paper book doesn't give you access to the e-book :book: Would be great though.
fedaykin Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 That doesn't seem fair to me. They're the exact same price. I should get to download the downloadable version when I buy the boxed version. Why should I have to wait for the boxed version to arrive if it's available as download and I already paid the same price?

Why should I have to wait for the boxed version to arrive if it's available as download and I already paid the same price? You won't have to wait, both will be available at the same time, shipping time not included of course. What's available now isn't the retail game, it's an ever changing beta. If you want to play an unfinished game now, by all means pay for the download version and enjoy the beta from now till release day. If you want to murder a tree for a box you might display on a shelf and a DVD that is little more than the downloaded version burned to a DVD, by all means be patient and wait till the retail version is out. I have two friends that are being totally buttheaded about the whole "I want a physical disc" nonsense. The retail game isn't coming with a leather bound color manual, it'll be a DVD and a slip of paper telling you to read the PDF manual on said DVD. The DVD you get isn't going to be any better or more useful than a DVD backup of the downloaded game. So, if you want to play now, buy the game now. If you don't want to play till it's finished and want some trash to throw out, wait for the DVD. fedaykin Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 Dude. I'm talking about BS, not Warthog. The reason I want a DVD is that I want to still play my game after DCS goes out of business or ceases support.
KillaALF Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Nothing stops you from burning the downloaded files to a DVD.

If I order the DVD box, will I also get access to the downloadable version? You already have access to the downloadable content of BS: 2 files at 2.18GB.....follow the Hyper-link. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?scr=product&ProductId=4&end_pos=135&lang=en ....but I also like to have them fast, so I'm hoping that I can order the DVD, but start playing the game before the DVD arrives. Is this possible? No, not possible. You can install the SIM and play around with the GUI and whatnot. In order to run a mission you will need to activate the SIM and for that you will need the serial# that you will get with your DVD purchase. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career?
