rob86 Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Hi! Ive been moving around a bit for the last year, including living in a wood for 4 months but now have an actual house to live in. as such im lookin at gettin back into flyin. i was gona get a new stick and wanted to know if the x52 pro is still a good buy as it fits my budget, or if i should be lookin at one of the newer yet more expensive options? any help would be great! cheers all
Total Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Personally, I'd go with the regular X52. Same control options for a lower price. I've been beating the hell out of my X52 for years without any issue. The Pro has the MFD screen that can display some parameters, but cockpit gauges or additional monitors are far more useful than the small text on the stick. The only upside to the Pro is that it has a bit more robust construction, but that's about it. Unless you're prone to dropping your HOTAS or baning them around constantly, the regular X52 should fit the bill nicely. All that being said, I still drool over the Thrustmaster Warthog and the Saitek X5F, but those are way beyond my realistic budget.
kylania Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 X52 Pro is a superb stick, if you're on a budjet and can afford it you'll really enjoy it. If you can afford $500 however, the Thrustmaster Warthog is the way to go! :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie

Frazer Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I have had the X52, X52Pro and now also the Warthog. As you say the Warthog is out of your budget, I would definiatly go for the X52Pro. Why not the X52? Because there are a few precision bugs in it and more important, it will wear off quicker (X52Pro has some metal parts which have proven to me to be of great importance). Important though, oil the metal ring with gunoil (ballistol) from the moment you buy it. Then it will not wear off at all and stay . JeffRod Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 I'm a X52Pro owner for a month now, and I must say, I'm more than satisfied. The stick is accurate, smooth, and just like frazer mentioned, it won't wear off as easily as the regular X52. I was on a 'low budget condition' (lol) so I had to go for the Pro, but I don't regret at all. Pilotasso Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Check my review thread right next to this one. I made a comparison of many HOTAs systems. But beware when i mention the X52 is mean the vanilla, original one. The PRO is better. :) .
