CptTangerine Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Hi I had a go at setting up a mission to practice inflight refuelling the other night but just got really frustrated in the end - I couldn't get a response on the TACAN or radio, and in the end I just gave up for the sake of my sanity. Does anyone have a mission they could post for this? Thanks. Does anyone have a mission they could post for this? Did you manually set the tanker frequency in the mission editor and tune your radio in the sim accordingly? It's actually quite easy to set a basic mission up. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

It was made during the beta 2, but works great in the new version. Not only will it be a good training tool - you can contact the tanker and request some juice "To most people, the sky is the limit. CptTangerine Posted December 5, 2010 Author Posted December 5, 2010 I tried to set the frequencies.for the.tanker manually but I couldn't work out how to do it - I don't find the mission editor all that intuitive and just ended up getting annoyed with it. I'm sure there are numerous posts on this but I wasn't in it for a long-haul attempt, I just wanted to Wang something together and crack on. Frederf Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Here's a real short procedure for making a tanker mission from a blank ME. Press "Add Airplane Group" button. Click map to place. Set skill: Player. Set altitude: 3000m. Press "Add Airplane Group" button. Click map to place near the first airplane group. Type: KC-135 COMM: 110 Altitude: 3000m Speed: 460 kmph Highlight ADD button Click to create a few waypoints for the tanker to fly. Fly the mission. Tanker will be VHF AM 110.0 MHz (as set above with COMM) which is what the A-10C cockpit defaults to so no adjustment will be needed. Tanker will also be broadcasting A/A TACAN on channel 1X if needed.

I do have my radio set to easy communications, and I do change the frequency. I've checked that my radios are on and functioning. Each time I have set this up, I cannot contact my tanker. Wwhen pressing the "\" key, the "tanker" or option to contact the tanker is highlighted in black. I cna contact others such as ground; and ATC. What am I doing wrong? I am stumped. sobek Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Is it possible that you have not tuned your radio to the tanker frequency? Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
dane48 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) Is it possible that you have not tuned your radio to the tanker frequency? I've checked that I set it to the 110.00 frequency as the guide shows. And I have set it to the 110 in the mission editor. Have checked that the radio settings is correct. I think? I'll keep at it, thank you sir EDIT: Don't know what I did, but I have it working. And now my last attempt at refueling? Still didn't get it. Will need to make adjustments to joystick. Its too loose Edited December 8, 2010 by dane48 "To most people, the sky is the limit. To those who love aviation, the sky is home."-----anonymous
CptTangerine Posted December 8, 2010 Author Posted December 8, 2010 Thanks for that. I tried it last night and had exactly the same radio problem as dane48. I also revisited the mission editor and got it working. Still can't get any fuel, but that's purely down to my flying!
