Hey guys,

Played the hell out of Black Shark now. I know the A10 isn't out yet, but what's the Beta like? Is it reasonable playable and stable? I might buy it now depending on what state the beta is in! Also, I only have a joystick (though I managed Black Shark okay with it), I presume this is a bit friendlier on the joystick only player?

Thank you!

Oh also.. I used to get some slowdown on DCS:BS when I used the TV screen...What do you guys think I'll achieve with the following specs...

Windows 7 64bit

4gb DDr 2 800mhz

GTX 260 with 896mb video ram

Your system will perform roughly equal in A-10C than in BS is my experience. So not much to worry there.

(see my sig for my specs)

The beta is in a very good shape. It does have some unadded features, but for day to day use of the sim and playing and creating missions it already a fully working product and I doubt you'll notice many bugs or missing features at all.

If you like highly detailed sims, you can go ahead with A-10C no problem. It'll give you countless hours of entertainment already in its current state.

But you could have found this info from many others if you bothered to look around a bit on the forums, though. ;)

Id say it works for training purposes right now. Many of the weapons are still bugged. CBUs rarely hit their targets, LGBs miss a lot, rockets seem to have little area affect, and imo mavs still miss far more than they should. Next beta supposedly is going to fix a lot of this.

Conure, your specs are pretty close to mine. I can fly pretty smooth unless there's a lot of AI aircraft. When I turn on the MAV or TGP, it does slow down a little bit, (more with the MAV) so unless I know I'm going for a MAV shot, I keep it on the CDU or DSMS screen. Otherwise, the sim is very playable (I just got done doing a 2-ship flight with a buddy knocking out trucks and BTRs. Tanks won't die from guns though).

Sorry for not doing a bit more research first guys, I should've done..Anyway, I bought the game and am currently downloading the beta, can't wait :-)

Do we have a rough date for the next update, or is it a "when it's ready" thing?

When it's ready, although the beta has killed the impatience I had anticipating the release. Hopefully it will have the same impact on you :)

Congrat on buying! Similar pc config like mine (sig), you have more video ram, so more eye candy for you. But I'm very satisfied.

Cool,

I have

Windows XP 32bit

4gig ddr2 1066 mhz

E6600 2.4 ghz clocked to 2.8ghz

GTX 460 1 gig video

DCS A10C runs smooth on medium settings with 1024 cockpit res and High textures, water is low, and I am not using HDR or TSSAA.

I am using full screen and a resolution of 1680x1050:thumbup:

There are a few minor annoyances because it is a beta but it is great fun already! :joystick:

I thought of that after I posted but its not entirely true although might as well be. ONCE I managed to kill a tank with guns after expending half my ammo. Havent been able to replicate it though but it is possible.

Tanks do die from the GAU gun on the A10 as far as I know. But it might not be correctly modelled yet in the beta.
