I'm having problems with AFT05. I'm clearly dropping the flares correctly (targets are visually lit up), but the positive triggers just won't fire.

Thanks. We will see if we can get an update out this weekend.

We retested and it appears the AI has changed (yet again). There are 3 helicopters in the CHEVY flight and 2 of them collide causing them to crash and wrecking the mission.

We tried with 4 helicopters in the flight but again they crash (looks like the same as before). However we were successful with only 2 helicopters in the flight.

We will provide an updated package tomorrow after some more testing as it might cause a problem in other missions that have 3 helos in the flight.

What version of the mission and is it OpenBeta or regular?

There were some issues with the flare detection but they were corrected in the latest package.

Make sure you drop the flares within 1 nm of the target as the flares drop straight down - they don't have kinetic energy like a bomb so you have to be near to directly over the target.

1.2.16

My guess: the PBRL line is completely off to the side for the first two targets, I suspect because of the wind. The IFFCC is computing the release point so that the flares will remain in the target area regardless of the wind, and this release point is outside the trigger zone. I tried ignoring the PBRL line and just dropping the flare when more or less on top of the targets and the trigger fires (although somewhat inconsistently). Ironically, often this means the target won't be as illuminated because the flares end up drifting.

EDIT: Nope, still not working. Target is completely illuminated but the trigger won't fire most of the time, very frustrating, especially since for the campaign mission it's a twenty minute flight before the drop.

I understand it's not your fault. I'm looking through the editor triggers and the only way I can think of to is the one you used: check the player pickles (I guess cockpit argument 740 is the release HOTAS button) within a 1nm radius of the target.

EDIT2: I just had an epiphany. Let me check something.

EDIT3: FFS, I found the problem. It's the good old depress bug DCSW has always had, where the cockpit triggers have a big chance of not firing if you don't keep pressed the button for a few moments. Since it was manual release I was just pressing the pickle button on the HOTAS for an instant, while it seems to register fine if I keep it pressed for half a second or so.

I'll test it a bit more by playing the campaign mission again and report back.

EDIT4: Yes, that actually was the problem. Keeping the pickle button depressed for half a second and all the triggers fired.

Glad you found that out. We've seen that issue before in other missions that require users to press a button. We recommend a 1 second count for any presses to ensure the game engine registers the press.

We used to have a trigger that was bomb in zone and the flares were treated like bombs but that was changed in an another game engine update so we had to revert to detecting the trigger press itself.

I retested the mission today and I think it's ok with the 1nm radius. We can make it larger if its a problem but because the flares tend to drop straight down, being over the target to drop them seemed logical to us.

We have made some more updates to the packages to work around some of the bugs in DCS 1.5.

The updated packages can be downloaded here:

OpenBeta 1.5 A-10C BFT Campaign

OpenBeta 1.5 A-10C AAT Campaign Part A

OpenBeta 1.5 A-10C AAT Campaign Part B

OpenBeta 1.5 A-10C TTQ Campaign Part A

OpenBeta 1.5 A-10C TTQ Campaign Part B

Additionally we have updated these packages as well:

OpenBeta 1.5 Su-27 BFT Campaign

OpenBeta 1.5 MiG-29G BFT Campaign

OpenBeta 1.5 A-10A BFT Campaign

OpenBeta 1.5 F-15C BFT Campaign

Your mission key and password can be used to install these updated packages and your campaign progress will not be impacted as it is recorded in your logbook.

It appears the 1.5.1 may have introduced new bugs so we are testing against that version now and will provide more updates as the Beta unfolds.

Thanks.

Will wait for ED's update before updating.

It's a big mess at the beginning of AFT07 where a lot of A10C explodes :)

BTW, I think this mission is really hard because when you're, like me, somhow at 50% accuracy, with the low blast damage of rockets, I'm out of ammo before killing all targets.

I will add at least 7 rockets for my next attempts...

The 1.5.1 update introduced a problem for the AI aircraft when taking off. It's been reported in this thread and this one too.

Hopefully the next update will get these issues corrected.

For AFT07 it is playable with the rockets you have (but you have to be more accurate and use only 1 rocket per target). Even if you miss a few you can still complete the mission as the remaining targets can be completed with just gun runs. The real challenge is not breaking the 500' hard deck. Use the Practice Mission Package to perfect your technique.

I made 4 to 5 run with the practice mission and 2 more yestearday with a full load of rocket (I'm good enough with the gun, just have to improve a lot with rockets, so changed the payload with the maximum rockets something like 100 rockets) to practice more.

And yes, I've had a few terminate because of the hard deck but now I try not to rush anymore and stay above 1000ft...

Thanks again, it is really great to see the improvement with your missions !

You probably know already, but remember you can use the ALT ALERT function as a pretty effective warning you're getting close to the hard deck. Set AGL to 700ft or so and pull up as soon as you hear the ALTITUDE ALTITUDE warning.

I'm getting a dialogue box that says the F-15C BFT campaign is corrupt when I try to launch the installer. I've tried to download it 3 times with the same outcome.

Looks like the 1.5 OpenBeta installer got corrupted. Uploading a new copy now...

New copy updated and tested ok for me. Please re-download and report back.

LOL find a small bug in the last mission of AFT, with the mavericks. I fired my two last mavericks on bmps in the convoy instead of the tanks so I ran winchester with 2 tanks left. No message from the instructor to RTB so I could have my ass kicked. Instead, I sent him to kill those two tanks with gun runs. Still got a Q- even tho I flew the whole mission without canopy because of a bird strike at take off.

Wow good job!

Unfortunately some things we can't code easily into the mission (like detecting winchester or a missing canopy). Pretty good use of the FE though so I'd give you a passing grade for the ingenuity in making the mission successful by using all available assets. :megalol:

Guess I'll have to change the FE's loadout to zero to avoid this bug in future. :smilewink:

Congrats !

I just passed the rocket/gun (without adding any rockets to the payload and landing with 200 CM left :D) and the unguided bombs yesterday (had a lot of luck with my 2 CBU getting at least 70% of the tanks)

I'm much better with mavs and GBU so the last 2 should be pretty easy (got a Q rating for the previous 2 missions)

I'm still nervous during final on the runway to avoide mid air collision with the FE...

Hi,

how do I play/install the BFT as a campaign?

After installation i can only find the missions in my mission folder, not in the campaign folder.

And I can access any mission from the beginning.

Win10, i5 3570K@4GHz, OCZ Vertex 4 256GB SSD, 16GB RAM, Gigabyte GTX 980, TM HOTAS Warthog, TM Cougar MFD, Saitek Pro Flight Rudder, TrackIR5

Did you download the campaign package?

The campaign package will install into the campaigns folder.

Here is a link to our missions so you should be able to find the correct package (or check out our website too).
