Hi.

Personally, I found the sound of the gau-8 in GA's Project 10 *beep*-ing awsome, I thought I would create a simple mod for it. So I got into contact with GA, and he told me that he used the sound from the movie (or was it a series... can't remember, but that's not important right now.. (some might know that reference :D )) Terminator Salvation. GA was kind enough to supply a wav file for me to edit (credit to him for that ;) ).

And a day later a very rough version. Note, this is ONLY the internal sounds, but not yet completed.

You just have to extract it to the sounds/effects folder, though for obvious reasons first BACK UP THE ORIGINAL.

Again, please note that this is not yet finished, but I thought maybe more of you guys would possibly appreciate this.

I also uploaded a video, that you can watch to learn how it sounds after the mod:

You know, since you now know how to edit the sound file, how about you combine the original sound file with this new file? (But maybe make it 3 seconds long, as the original file).

The original sound file "ends" more properly than the file you edited here. Give it ago, so you can get the best from both "worlds", so to speak? :)

I would like to try that as well. Since this is the method I used for my soundpack seen in my signature.

A10CGau8.rar

The original one layered with this one sounds something like that.

Tried to sync it as far as possible, end is pitched down to meet original. Begining and end is through zero to avoid crackles.

EDIT:

This file is meant for GAU 8 gunsoundimprovement-reasearch only. I´m not going to make any mod with that. :)

Sounds ok, but there are some issues. Specifically with how the audio is managed. The internal (and external for that matter) sounds are looped, even though you would hold the trigger for 20 seconds, you would get multiple loops. In that way you can never get an accurate representation of the sound.. You would fire, keep firing, and the sound of the cannon would spool down and immediately after spool up again..

Know what I mean?

Yes I know what you mean. The spool up beginning and ending is also in the original file made by ED. I also don´t know why since there are seperate files for spool up, down and the loop. I just orientated myself to the way ED has done it.

I haven´t tried it in the sim and I also can´t look at the original file right now. Will check that later again.
