Bahger Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 (edited) There are four files in the .rar folder, 2 jpgs and 2 files called "Options" and "Mission". For whatever reason, there is no file extension on these 2 files (like .miz). Can someone confirm what these files are and if they both go in the "missions" folder in DCS A-10? It's worth checking because the sim will crash if it doesn't recognize files. Thanks, I'm looking forward to having a good AF training .miz. Edited December 20, 2010 by Bahger
Burner Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I do not see a .rar file when I downloaded it from user files. It is just the .miz file we need. Burner Intel Core i7 9700 @ 5.1Ghz, Nvidia RTX 2080Ti, Win 10 Pro 64 Bit, HOTAS Hornet, Virpil CM2 Base, MFG Rudders , HP Reverb Pro
Bahger Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 That's very odd, I get a .rar file as described above. Would you mind uploading the .miz?
dane48 Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 That's very odd, I get a .rar file as described above. Would you mind uploading the .miz? All I have seen is the .rar file also. Having had this happen before, I thought I would rename it and then add the .miz It doesn't work., Crashes just like Bahger said. "To most people, the sky is the limit. dane48 Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 That will work. Thanks, C.o.u.g.a.r "To most people, the sky is the limit. To those who love aviation, the sky is home."-----anonymous

Sarge55 Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I get the same problem as well, a file called "Mission" and one called "Options" plus two jpg's. The two files do not have file extensions. Is there another source for the .miz file? Grimes Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 A miz file acts as a .rar or a zip archive and is just a collection of all relative files to the mission itself. The mission file is the actual mission, options are custom settings, and jpgs are just jpgs the mission uses. The game opens this archive up naturally and there is NO need to unpack it. Save the file rather than just opening it. Copy it to the missions folder and viola, it will work. Or modify the extensions within windows to ignore the .miz file type so winrar or whatever app you are using doesn't automatically think its a compressed archive. But for the sake of simplicity..... http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1719724/Aerial_Refueling_Training.rar Yo dawg, I put a miz in a rar so you can archive an archive. Bahger Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 (edited) Thank you for archiving the archive. I understand what you're saying about .miz files but the problem for some of us is that once Windows defines an incoming file as a .rar, it has the wrong extension and when you try to run it in A-10 the sim crashes, which is a pain. I know I could set Windows (or WinRAR) not to classify .miz files as .rar files but it baffles me why most downloaded .miz files are not misinterpreted in this way but some, like this one, are. I've tried saving them straight to the A-10 missions folder -- one time I think I even changed the extension to .miz -- but once they are classified by WinRAR as proprietary .rar files, they crash the sim. Thanks again for supplying the "raw" .miz. Edited December 21, 2010 by Bahger
Grimes Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 If it helps by default I have the .miz extension attached to "Windows Shell Common dll". And all unknown file types are to show their extension. Thus all missions show up as a "name.miz" with blank icons. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. mtuckner Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Cool, very simple... lol. One thing, the frequency says 141.25 but I couldn't raise him up. I went into the editor and set frequency to 131 and he came up after that. It didn't look like there was a frequency assignment.

dane48 Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Thanks for putting this together. I had other attempts at aerial refueling in other settings/missions and I finally made a connection. It took me 18 attempts but I finally got gas! "To most people, the sky is the limit. To those who love aviation, the sky is home."-----anonymous
Fakaro Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I actually found it pretty easy to hook up. Got gas on my 2nd approach to the tanker. Had a bit of a rough time getting in sync with the tanker initially, but it worked out ok. It would certainly be easier if I had rudder pedals. Trying to adjust position to the tanker without fine yaw control is tough.
xepoti Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 (edited) How can I load the mission? I don`t see a .miz file in the package. EDIT: nevermind, found the solution. the file is recognized as a winzip file for me Edited December 31, 2010 by xepoti
Avatar72 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Anyone care to comment on what I'm doing wrong? After several attempts I got attached but lost it in less than 10 second and I could never reattach Its my first time but it was frustrating as hell. I think my joystick overcompensates by the slightest movement. I'm all over the place with the slightest push one way or the other. I'm using a TM WH And I was never able to keep a constant speed. The tanker seems to be travelling at 186-187 Thank you for the mission. It certainly tests ones patience.cantrefuel.trk
