scheffchen Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Hello and good morning, I am having trouble contacting the ground crew. Maybe somehone can teach me how to do so? I do not use easy communications. On the intercom panel the rotary switch is turned to the far right (like on that picture) and all the other switches are pulled. When the communication menu pops up (after turning the rotary switch) I select ground crew but nothing happens. No answer, nothing. I tried this on Batumi airport in ramp position. what am I doing wrong here? Greetings Boris 9900k, 2080TI, 64GB, ssd, valve index, Thrustmaster on virpil, virpil cm2 throttle, tpr pedals, mfd.
Highfox Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I've had that as well, not sure if I'm doing something wrong. I've found I can contact them to get start-up permission after I have started the engines :music_whistling: Then taxi and take off are ok.
26-J39 Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Don't forget guys u need at least APU started with inverter on to communicate.. Have you set your AM radio to the tower freq? Batumi should be 131.00 Mhz
scheffchen Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 APU was on. Freq. set to Batumi (131). I have attached a short .trk showing the problem. Probably it might be a bug or something?groundcrew.trk 9900k, 2080TI, 64GB, ssd, valve index, Thrustmaster on virpil, virpil cm2 throttle, tpr pedals, mfd.
Frederf Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 It's not any of these problems. Load up a mission, ramp start, batumi, parking spot #3. Any way (and I mean ANY: FM, UHF, ???) you can manage to get up the radio menu, ask for a rearm. "Copy." Go back to ME and change parking spot to #24. Now try to get it to work.
scheffchen Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 Interesting! It worked in parking spot number 3, but not in 24 which was my original starting point. So the parking spot number is the reason when the ground crew does not answer! btw: additionally I know now that you do not even need to power anything up in the cockpit. just cold ramp start, unpause, turn intercom rotary switch and talk to ground crew. thanks fredarf! 9900k, 2080TI, 64GB, ssd, valve index, Thrustmaster on virpil, virpil cm2 throttle, tpr pedals, mfd.
Steel Jaw Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I think IIRC there are "magic zones" where these will only happen, inclluding clearence for take-off down at the threshold. Fredarf is pleased! But when I say anything to get the radio menu up I mean anything. You don't have to turn the intercom rotary. You can purposefully pop all of the bronze-colored intercom panel knobs to the "silence" position, turn the master intercom knob to 0, use the entirely wrong radio, have the canopy down, have the engines noisy, more and more... and still ground crew hear you. There are absolutely zero logical checks done regarding any of the comm equipment, just that you're stationary and in the service bubble. You can tell the center of the service zone because that's where the ground crew world voice can be heard. At parking spot #3 you can actually hear (engines off, canopy open) the word "copy" which appears to come from just on the otherside of the fence behind you.
brewber19 Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 How do you tell the number for each parking slot? I cant get ground crew to talk to me at Batumi...so any guidance as to where I should be parking? I also presume I can be rearmed with engines running? But repair takes 3 mins all dark, is that correct? Thanks in advance Brewber. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 487th Helicopter Attack Regiment, of the VVS504 Red Hammers

Not sure whether it's implemented yet, atleast repair doesn't work in MP last time I checked ( was B3 or B4?...)
nomdeplume Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 How do you tell the number for each parking slot? I cant get ground crew to talk to me at Batumi...so any guidance as to where I should be parking? In the mission editor, if the plane is set to 'takeoff from parking' you get an additional dropdown list with all the parking slot numbers in it. The icon for the plane on the map will move when you select the new slot. I also presume I can be rearmed with engines running? But repair takes 3 mins all dark, is that correct? Yep, but I don't think repair is implemented yet as of beta 4.
brewber19 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Thanks for the info guys, will try that out tomorrow ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 487th Helicopter Attack Regiment, of the VVS504 Red Hammers
