yonyz Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Hi, I've downloaded the extended flight manual for Black Shark from the DCS website, which is 534 pages. Having a printing house print it for me is much cheaper than buying the printed manual, because shipping to Israel would cost 18 dollars. So I would like to know what kind of paper to use for the printing: Is it A4? If yes, what weight per paper (80 grams, 120 grams, etc...)? Thanks in advance.
Konovalov Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 The hard copy manual is A5 size about 230mm x 170mm approx. yonyz Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 Thanks. It helps a lot. Do you happen to know what weight the paper is? Is it like the kind people use with home printers, or something more "robust"?
joey45 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Don't think it would matter TBH. Probably it be robust paper. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. yonyz Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 I just don't want my printed manual to be ruined due to extensive use. It's not a one-time reading book, after all.
joey45 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 good point. Print it robust paper and laminate it. Henchman14 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I print it on 8 1/2 by 11 paper and it comes out pretty nice.
yonyz Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 I eventually printed it on A4 paper, b/w, color cover. Spiral bound, of course. Came out very nice, but I'm afraid the spiral won't hold very long because there's just too many pages, so I might have to hardcover it later, if I see fit.
power5 Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 I printed it at 8.5x11 as well, but could not do 2 sided, so it is in 2x 3" 3 ring binders. Not the most handy for during flight. Need to buy the printed version finally. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Aaron i7 2600k@4.4ghz, GTX1060-6gb, 16gb DDR3, T16000m, Track IR5 BS2-A10C-UH1-FC3-M2000-F18C-A4E-F14B-BF109

One guy at Polish forums sells his printed manual bundled per-chapters. Or the whole manual divided into 3 or so parts, I don't remember. But it's obviously a good solution. Also I would personally go for a ring binder. The more the rings and the thicker the rings the better F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
yonyz Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 I've already printed it on A4 papers, spiral bound. It came out fine, but if the spiral won't hold, I can always pay another 15 bucks to hardcover it.
