Is there away I can use another aircraft to degrade enemy SAM radar so that I can get in close with the A-10C and take out a SAM site? Do any of the aircraft included have jamming capability that I can turn on at a specific time or is there another way to take out a SAM site like a SA-11 before it takes me out?

Wait out for the dedicated DEAD flight to tag the SAM. Cannot and should not tackle MERAD/LORAD systems with the Hog. SHORAD on the other hand is fair game.

DEAD -> SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defences)

 

If you create a Mission, select a flight with the action "SEAD". So you have airframes with sead-capabillity like Tornado-IDS/F-16/F-18. Then arm the Flights with 2-4 anti-radiation missile (ARM) Weapons like AGM-88 HARM or ALARM. Rest of Pylons with Cluster or Mavericks for AAA/LORAD/SHORA.

 

The A-10 is no Anti-Air-Defensive-Aircraft.

DEAD = Destroy Enemy Air Defense

SEAD = Surpress Enemy Air Defense (keep engaged. Force shutdowns etc.)

 

Really for the purpose of the sim, they are basically the same. Add A.I. flightes to perform these 2 roles.

Why do my AI aircraft sit on the ramp when another aircraft enters the mission

 

I have been working on adding a dedicated SEAD flight, which has been working quite well. It launches at the beginning of the multiplayer mission and takes out the enemies radar so it can't launch its missiles.

 

The problem I'm having is that they launch just fine if it's just me in the mission, but if my friend joins the mission the two F-16C's assigned to the SEAD task just sit on the ramp and don't taxi to the runway. Sometimes the number 2 SEAD aircraft taxi's a little, but they just sit on the ramp. The moment my friend leaves the mission they taxi out and takeoff.

 

I am really baffled.

That comes down to taxi permissions and such. AI have never liked operating from the same base as players online. Sometimes it works, but usually they freak out. I tend to give em their own little base to take-off and land at. Its not the best approach, but at least it works.

so the A10 does not carry the HARM missle?

 

Not anti-radiation missiles. The only ranged Fire and forget missiles it has are the IR/TV seeker Mavericks.

Even then Grimes, they won't take off most of the time, at least for me. An enemy MiG flight in my mission, hundreds of miles away from the humans, refused to take off in multiplayer until I made them single ships which activated two minutes apart.
