Simer Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Hi, Why is F15 easier to land/fly than Su33? I feel the flight model of F15 is not accurate and it is simplified. Am I right or is it just that F15 is easier to fly than the Su's. Regards
Jinro Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I thought all the flight models where funky until I was told that they've been replicated as close to the real thing as possible. I was hoping the Russian jets were as easy to fly as the F15 and A10. I can't get my landing speed right in the MiG29...stupid airbrakes won't deploy.
GGTharos Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 That's right .. the airbrakes won't deploy with the gear down and locked in the MiG-29. Set up your landing pattern correctly ahead of time and you'll be able to hit the right speed. As for the F-15 being a little easier to fly - it comes with a control augmentation system that relieves a lot of the need to trim. Jinro Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I usually rely on the airbrakes to keep me at the right speed...then again I'm not used to metric so I generally have a hard time relating to how fast 280 km/h is :P I noticed the Russian jets need a massive amount of downward trim.....although I really like the Su-25's model (how it banks to one side from weight distribution after releasing ordinance).

Just manipulate the AoA that way. in theory you could be on glideslope and all trimmed out and set on AoA and on speed, so you can take your hands off and your plane will just fly right down to the runway. All you have to do is flare. I noticed the Russian jets need a massive amount of downward trim.....although I really like the Su-25's model (how it banks to one side from weight distribution after releasing ordinance). Well yes - it has a more advanced flight model, flies more realistically in many respects. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
mikoyan Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 jaja I find the russian jets easier to land than the eagle for some reason.
Postal2 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 But even if the F-15''is easiest to fly "and thanks to the flight control and power over the fact that he compensate the trim! not help her badly. Then an approach respecting a precise procedures (not to mention the emports) because we are more towards 170kts than of 150 otherwise you will quickly lose attitude and will be fatal. Well prove not as obvious as that. Again with the updated components (yes all flaps out alone below 250kts and up above 250/300kts as true, but however, and regretfully apart giving effect to the device does have unfortunately lost enough speed ... I hope to make available a patch one day . may be two more weeks ! ;-) ... I hope that what I write is understandable . Good night !. Wolf Rider Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 don't forget to increase speed in line with the amount of fuel onboard ;) plus any armaments. GGTharos Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 You can quite safely land at 150kt when you are at a landing configuration. In fact the approach is 150 but the landing speed will be as low as 120. Jinro Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I honestly never use trim when landing....only for level flight. In the case of the Su-25 I have to hold the ctrl+; button for 2 seconds straight to trim the nose down after takeoff.
