SonofEil Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 (edited) I'm wondering what everyone uses as a registry cleaner, if you clean at all! Is there a tool that stands out as trustworthy or does everyone kind of do their own thing? In essence, this post is kind of a poll...without the poll. ___________________________________________________________ Win 7 64 i7 975 @3.33 8GB DDR3 HD4850 Edited January 24, 2011 by SonofEil i7 7700K @5.0, 1080Ti, 32GB DDR4, HMD Odyssey, TM WH, Crosswind Rudder...

bumfire Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 In my experience, any application/program that says *fix/speed up your pc* which you have to pay for, they are best avoided like the plague. What those apps give you for a price, their is free ones that do the exact same thing or better and all for free. CCleaner gets a thumbs up from me, because it gets rid of shite that is the usual suspects when it comes to the odd slow down, but it also doesnt act too big for its boots and mark everything in your registry as being able to be safely deleted. CCleaner is good and doesnt go over the score with what it will allow you to delete safely, I say safely, because 99% of the time it will be perfectly safe to delete what it marks as being deletable, whilst other apps including paid for ones will mark things "safe to be deleted" when infact they arent. You gotta try a few out and find whats suitable for you, but personally, I would avoid paying for a tune up, as their really is no need to pay for one in this day and age.

mig29 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Be very careful while using any registry cleaner. Sometimes they detect good entries as bad and cleaning them out may result in undesirable experience.
