sliderslot Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 What we think? Whats the best HOTAS flight system available. I fly multiple flight sims, freefalcon, openfalcon, fight sim x and hopefully the new a10 flight sim. Anyone got any suggestions on what is the best choice for these?
MTFDarkEagle Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I fly FSX, A-10C, Ka-50, IL-2, Falcon 4 and Lomac, and my vote goes to the Thrustmaster Warthog. **(Missile away! Break defensive popping flares! Flame incoming!) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Cali Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 For me, it's CH Products and the reasons why I think so. Pros 1. Works flawlessly out the box and for many, many, many years. (I've had mine for almost 8 years- with no problems) 2. CH support is head and shoulders above any other out there http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/forum.php 3. Programmable is above all others also, there is just so much you can do with it. 4. Everything still works perfectly after all these years, very sturdy!!! built to last! Cons 1. I'm not a big fan of the throttle (it's a slider and not a hump) 2. The feel of it (the cougar and warthog feel like the real HOTAS in a jet) I can get over the cons really fast, since the pros outweigh them. I'd rather have a HOTAS that works instead of broke or require expensive mods to make it work. I have the stick, throttle and pedals and they cost me $330 almost 8 years ago. Maybe expensive at the time, but 8 years and still working strong is very good. Read this, it's a good article http://www.simhq.com/_technology2/technology_094a.html Always do research on something you plan on getting i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
TeeJay82 Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Saitek pro series hotas, x-52, x65f. the x65 took some time getting used to, but once you master it, no other stick ive tried comes even close to the presision you can get from it, it also looks and feels like 100% quality
sliderslot Posted February 9, 2011 Author Posted February 9, 2011 Do like the look of the x65 Do like the look of the x65 i gotta be honest. Looks the biz too.
Feed Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 This sort of thread just screams flame war. :) The perfect HOTAS for you is going to be different than the perfect HOTAS for the next guy, and will depend on several factors - what sim do you fly? What is your price range? How important are looks, or accuracy, or how it feels? How much customization do you want? All of the current offerings have their strengths and weaknesses. IMHO, you simply cannot beat either the CH or TM lines. These are the players to beat - everyone else is playing catch-up (which is why everyone else's setups are cheaper). * ducks *
