3. Out-gimbal the missile. A little harder, but can be done.

4. Ortho-roll: This is your last ditch defense and in general, against FC2 actives your chances are not good if the missile is in the high-energy part of its flight.

What other means of out-gimbaling the missile, besides ortho-roll are there?

PS: THx Crunch for the pic, didn't have it with distances for different jets.

Yes, as Bob says it is the same SPO-15 in the MiG-29, Su-27/33 and Su-25. The difference is what a radar strength will display as on the RWR. A stronger radar will light up more yet be further away. A weaker radar will light up less yet be closer.

SPO bars accuracy when combined with the contact data on the radar provides great information that can be used to guess against which sort of fighter you are dealing. F-15/Su's still can be more or less reliably distinguished as 90% of eagle drivers wont hard lock at long medium ranges therefore spiking you only on the spo using TWS. on the other hand, a Su pilot will most probably go for a hard lock and fire asap a ER/EM.

Not as accurate as a TEWS but this is the best you can get to "NCTR" your contact.

No problem. Can't take credit for creating it though. Can't remember where I got it.

You can use the values listed for the F-16 for the MiG-29.

The progression of one radar range to the next looks fairly linear.

Update

In FC1 flying the MIG or Su when you hit the sound barrier [hear the sonic boom when outside the plane] no matter what altitude, the mach meter always indicated exactly mach 1 as it should. Now in FC2 only when near ground level will the sonic boom happen exactly at mach 1. As you fly higher the sonic boom happens at mach 1.1, higher 1.2, higher 1.3 and so on. This shouldn't happen, the mach meter should adjust for altitude and the sonic boom should always occur at mach 1 regardless of altitude.

Is this a bug and what can be done about it?

Thank you for reporting. If we will make patch for Flaming Cliffs 2 one day, we will check what is wrong with the sonic boom sound and the machmeter.

Please accept my sincere apologies for a delay with the answer.

It's a bug, most likely caused by the switch to a whole new sound engine. The only thing that can fix it afaik is a patch.
