ilikepie Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 you may need to reload the profile in the options gui and then make your changes and then save them to that profile. its sounds that it could have reverted to a default profile when you made some changes Action After Contemplation
Mik75 Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 Thanks for the fast answer! But I could figure it out. A was already assigned to HOTAS speedbrake switch aft, and I assigned it to the LAAP on function too, that caused the problem... I already started to becom nervous... :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Greets, Michael
S D Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Welcome to the world of DCS Mik.... I can only repeat what has been said before in regards to learning the sim. So i'll just say i hope you enjoy your time flying and that you have alot of WOW! moments like the rest of us do. :pilotfly:
Mik75 Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 (edited) I certainly do enjoy this fantastic simulation. For sure, it requires a lot of time, a steep leaning curve and even more reading. But right now, I have so much fun that I spend every free minute with either reading or flying the lessons over and over again. I am flying in simulators for about 10 years now. But I haven't been caught so badly by a piece of software since I tried out the PMDG 737 for FS9 for the very first time. Excellent, brilliant work! Can't wait for the next beta stage! razorseal Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Not to fan the flames (maybe a little bit :music_whistling:) but now you know why we play this and other well done combat sims. Doubt the tacpack will ever reach this level of detail and accuracy regarding weapon systems. I bet you'll never do a ferry flight from your home town airport to the home airbase, and shoot a missile or two on the way :D
Mik75 Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 I bet you'll never do a ferry flight from your home town airport to the home airbase, and shoot a missile or two on the way :D It depends on my mood, and if it's a real bad Monday...;-) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Greets, Michael
Mik75 Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) Hi! Ok, let's say I want to try a mission to practice my weapon usage. When I start the mission (which one would you suggest or how can I set up a simple mission on my own?), the Nav points are already loaded in the FMC and show up in the TAD display. How do I know where the targets are located? I know, this may be a complete dumb question, but isn't there something like an a/g radar showing me targets on ground? (like in the VRS F 18 when I designate a waypoint as the targetzone) Or will ATC give me instructions to find the targets? I know, the best way to learn is reading the entire manual (what I will do sooner or later). But as I would like to train dropping bombs and shooting unguided missiles in CCIP and CCRP mode right now, a quick and simple mission would fit the best. Or what do you mean? Mik75 Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) That sounds good and quite simple. Will give it a try tomorrow! The mission editor looks quite complicated, but I have to learn it anyway! Thanks for your quick reply. Edited February 14, 2011 by Mik75 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Greets, Michael
nomdeplume Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 make waypoint on that abandoned airfield. Choose your payload and start the mission. When you do this, make sure to set the altitude of the waypoint over the airfield to 0 (it'll reset to something slightly above ground level, but that's fine). If you leave it at default, when you tell the TGP to slew to that position it'll be looking a few thousand feet into the air, which is very confusing especially if you're trying to learn the systems.
mic1184 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Easiest method for target finding (for practicing only, of course) is to hit L Shift + F10 to switch on labels. that way you can set your TGP to them and switch em off again. couldn't've done without it when i started use the mission editor anyways so you can define your payload manually. Mik75 Posted February 15, 2011 Author Posted February 15, 2011 Ok, thanks a lot guys! That really helped! I just created my first little mission successfully! Could someone please give me a hint again how I designate a target for CCRP mode with the TGP? Just a bit too much information lately... ;-) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Greets, Michael
Mik75 Posted February 15, 2011 Author Posted February 15, 2011 Ok, TMS up hold when HUD is SOI designates in HUD mode and when TGP is SOI that one designates the target when holding TMS up. Sometimes things are easier than you think... And after my first hits with MK 82 bombs, I´m really happy! ;-) It´s getting better. One more question: How can I start a mission on the ramp? (to practice the startup) Thanks in advance! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Greets, Michael
SmokeyTheLung Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 When you place your a10, under waypoint, it should say "turning point". Click on that drop down menu and select "start from ramp" (or something to that effect) That will place you at the nearest airport for a cold start. Mik75 Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Perfect!!! That works very well! Thank you very much! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Greets, Michael
Mik75 Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Which is the key command for engine starting and shutdown? I don´t use the Thrustmaster Warthog yet! :) Thanks in advance! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Greets, Michael
Mud Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Right ALT + HOME for starting the left engine. Right CTRL + HOME for starting the right engine. Same but END in stead of HOME to shut them down. Mik75 Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 With your help, my knowledge and skills develop really nicely! I just finished a mission in which I destroyed several ground targets with bombs in CCRP mode and the use of Mavericks. That is so much fun, I really begin to love my Warthog. I´d like to know if there is a possibility to show up the different classes of ground vehicles in the mission editor? I mean, they are already divided in SAM and tanker and transport etc., but how do I recognize the tanks for instance? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Greets, Michael

Mik75 Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Wow, that was really fast!!! Ok, thanks a lot! In my next mission I want to shoot a few tanks. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Greets, Michael
Mik75 Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Hi! I start my weapon training flights now from the ramp, so I get used to starting the Warthog up. So far, everything works quite good, except that the "EAC" warn light doesn´t extuingish and the A/P won´t engage in flight. What am I missing? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Greets, Michael
S77th-konkussion Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 You have to wait for the INS to align itself. After setting your right MFD to CDU- wait for the INS NAV READY to flash. It takes around 4 minutes or so. Once this is ready- press the NAV mode OSB, the TAD map display will come up on the left MFD, and you will be able to engage the EAC. If you press the NAV button prior to this queue- the alignment process resets to inflight or whatever-- and you will be waiting quite a few minutes before the EAC will work. 1 [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
Mik75 Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 Hi! I tried out what you suggested, and I waited for the INS to show up the RDY message before I touched anything, but still no joy. EAC warning light is still on and I´m not able to turn on the autopilot... And, as soon as I want to flip the EAC switch to ARM, it jumps back on its own again. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Greets, Michael
Mud Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 The INS NAV READY has to be flashing for it to be completely aligned. So you shouldn't flip the EAC switch yet when INS NAV READY is shown, but not blinking. nomdeplume Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 For EAC, as Bonso says - wait until INS NAV READY is flashing. Also you need to have all four SAS switches on the left panel enabled. You should also get a warning about them being off.
Mik75 Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 That did the trick!!! It has to flash before I engage it, thank you very much! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Greets, Michael
