Hello,

Playing BS now for sometime, I notice that on some occasions, the vikhr actually hits the tank and dont cause damage. I don't see it explode , where if I operate at higher altitude, it blows the tank. Is this a bug? Also, the laser rangefinder seems to give two ranges if I slew it down a little while the box is on target, like if I aim for the turret, gives 2.2 and the tracks gives 2.1??

Also, is there a collective trim in the game? like I want to keep the collective up at a specified level, to give the specified output. I use an Xbox 360 and the analog sticks are cool with the exception of having to press it down while spooling or it lifts before I turn gens to Avto. Any ideas?

Thanks

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

My only guess on the Viks issue is where you are hitting the tanks. 1 shot isn't a kill, you usually require two. High up might have you hitting the weaker armour or maybe Newton is helping them along enough?

There is a collective trim (can't remember it's name actually) but I have never got it to work where I could for definate say it was doing something. But I think it's only got a small bit of authority, if your moving the collective chances are it won't hold it as the pre-selected setting.

Thanks paul, one thing though, is that having read the manual, I noticed collective break (is that it?) I think its the f key which is assign altitude but I could be wrong

I guess I'm stuck with that thing forever...

The vihkr thing isn't a bug, it depends entirely on the target(s) you're engaging. E.g Abrams will generally require 2 hits to go down. Or if you hit a t80 frontal from a low angle it prolly won't destroy it either.

Collective break that's it!

Never noticed it doing anything personally.

Collective brake only works when the Altitude auto-pilot channel is ON.

When you release the break, you are telling the chopper to hold the current altitude.

Note that you might also have to decrease/increase collective to "help" the autopilot system hold that altitude. I think it's because the autopilot system only has 20% control over the different things it controls - bank, yaw, pitch and altitude.

Well, I was just reading your first post again, and about the tank "exploding"...

Your real goal in hitting a tank is killing the crew. If you hit the tank and see it smoke and stop, the warhead probably penetrated the tank. Wherefore, the crew is almost certainly dead ( Jello, most likely). The tank won't always explode when penetrated. If I see them stop and smoke, I leave them for dead. When I was in JROTC yeeeaaaarrrrrrrs ago :music_whistling:, my unit was attached to a National Guard Tank Company as our sponser. This one tanker used to joke about how he was going to die in " a beautiful white light". :P

Had a short Look on it

You are Tracking the targets to low in my opinion for this very short Distance.

The Vikhr missile is spinning around the Laser Beam and ride into the Target it needs some time (or Range)to find the hmmm lets say its rythm :) in its spin to get as close to the middle of the beamride as it can. At short Distance it can crash into ground befor it hit the Target or misses it above and crashes behind it.

Next Point is you are not really waiting befor you can have a look maybe those tanks in the track are burning they explode later then.

Nice flying. The shots are a bit too low. In that situation i would set the target-cursor between hull and turret.

And by the way during a rocket-run use your laser for an exact calculation of the impact point of your rockets:

- put the laser on

- laser your target-point

- when the target-point and the virtuell recticle in the HUD is lined up then shoot. Avoid at this momemt any lateral and any height deviations.

will do buddy, but for rockets, well, I think I'll wait for the HOTAS for a more precise control.
