RIPTIDE Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Iraqi aircraft which ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN A2A used tactics that could have been successful. Are you saying that you'd like to include aircraft that were running away to Iran, ground-pounders and helicopters in that group? IN fairness though, Many of the best Iraqi pilots were already killed in the preceding years. Add to that the dire state of Iraq's crumbled economy (the reason they invaded kuwait after all) and by extension the tactics they had used in the wars previously with Iran and during the Gulf War 1.0 on the ground also lead me to believe that nobody actually had a clue. There was some inspirational work done with Mirages against Iranian F-14's (IIRC I think even a Mig-21 kill against a F-14 had been admitted by the Iranians), but these were few and don't represent a trend and many of these pilots later were killed. Putting up the straw man where Iraq was some amazing force is a great story. And a story is all it is. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 (edited) I didn't say their air force was spit-shiny new and polished. They just weren't the utter n00bs that some people would have liked them to be. In GF 1.0 they employed dragging towards SAMs and worm-type approaches to F-15's; those are just two things I'm aware of. Their BFM was always fail, but they got down to BFMing range against fighters that should have shot them out of the skies without ever seeing them. This is a huge difference from, for example, the Serbian MiG-29 experience where they just never seemed to be a threat. GGTharos Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Interesting - skipped prototype? :) Do you happen to know the differences? ФрогФут Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Do you happen to know the differences? No, only photos: http://pilot.strizhi.info/2011/02/20/9343#more-9343 The only thing known is that they are built on the Su-27SK hulls(old-built, but not used, so many flight hours for them). GGTharos Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 From a quick googling the SM-2 was supposed to be a full up upgrade to Su-35 standard with IRBIS and 14000kg engine. It was cancelled. The Su-27SM3 retains N-001V, and has some or all Su-35 avionics otherwise. Don't know about engines. ФрогФут Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 From comments on pilot.strizhi.info: It has same avionics as SM, but modified, cockpit looks mostly like SM, but with some differences(no mechanical instruments at all). alpinemike Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I love the Sukhoi fighters! I keep hearing "We already did the Flanker" I ask, when? Not a DCS style sim! The Cy-27 and Cy-35 could be modeled into the same DCS. I love U.S. fighters too but I live here, I see Eagles nearly every day. Great fighter true. But the Flankers are big, sexy and exotic. And honestly I think the Sukhoi Fighters have grown up allot!
TheCabal Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 The point is.... there are already many highly detailed US-Hardware sims out there.... it's just a waste to produce another one over and over agian. I'm just tired to hear all the people screaming for always the same shit. 1 FC3, Ka-50, A-10C, AJS-37, MiG-21bis, F-14A/B, F/A-18C, F-16C, NTTR, Persian Gulf, Super Carrier, TacView Advanced Next in line: F-5 II , MiG-19 , MiG-23 MLA Wishlist: PA-100 Tornado, F-104 Starfighter, MiG-25 Foxbat, A-6 Intruder

I'm just tired to hear all the people screaming for always the same shit. This. The F-16 and F-18 in particular have really been done to death. Having the opportunity to fly Russian hardware in sims is why I buy ED games. Personally I'd love to see DCS: Su-34. I realise most of it's systems are probably still classified, but even the Su-27MKI would be great when modelled with DCS levels of detail :joystick: 2 System Spec: Cooler Master Cosmos C700P Black Edition case. | AMD 5950X CPU | MSI RTX-3090 GPU | 32GB HyperX Predator PC4000 RAM | | TM Warthog stick & throttle | TrackIR 5 | Samsung 980 Pro NVMe 4 SSD 1TB (boot) | Samsung 870 QVO SSD 4TB (games) | Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Pilotasso Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Donne to death? maybe in DOS times. No western fighters have been modelled in ANY sim but FC for over 1 decade... .
Boberro Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Exactly. F-16 is one of the most loved plane over the world ^^ 1 Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Shinigami Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 (edited) Donne to death? maybe in DOS times. No western fighters have been modeled in ANY sim but FC for over 1 decade... I could cite you: F-16 fighting Falcon version 4x... and more. F-22 All the Jane's F-18 and more F-117 one of my favorites from when I was a lite boy (I love bombing missions) though is a DOS sim; it was pretty well done. Wing Over series. There are so many, that I won't be able to mention all. After seen the post of ФрогФут and GGTharos about the secret spec of the most modern versions. It seems that the only chance we got will be a Mig-29K or a M perhaps, and with a lot of luck some modernization of the Su-27, nevertheless with any of thous mentioned I would be very happy. Shinigami Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 (edited) Some buddy of mine told me that it would be great to sim the Flight Ramp crew members, all the bomb loading process and the pilot walking or runing to the plane. I don't know if it already done in A-10 Warthog but it would be nice. Shinigami Out... Edited March 14, 2011 by Shinigami La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. Boberro Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 MiG-29K? It is very fresh plane, I doubt it would be available... Has Russia started massive production of them yet? Saying something was done to death, when it was made 10+ years ago is a contradiction of terms.

Saying something was done to death, when it was made 10+ years ago is a contradiction of terms. Well if you mean that is not made by the ED standards, yes you have right but there are so many US fighter sim that is more logical to ask for a russian one. One that you haven't seen before. Shinigami Out.... Still hoping for a Mig-29M, in the mind time studding :book: 1 La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. Cervantes. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Severum Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Just to throw it out there, I didn't read all 12 pages so I don't know if its been said, I noticed in the beginning everyone was talking about the SU-30 or SU-34 or any other type of 2 seated aircraft. Now, That would be interesting for multiplayer, now you can have your friends fly in your plane with you, kind of like FSX and IL-2. Sure, training about blow chunks, but I think its a cool feature that would require both of you to work together to stay alive.
