Wynthorpe Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 First of all "Hello" to everyone here :) Secondly - WOW! THis is a seriously indepth Sim!!! Now im used to flying the likes of PMDG and Level D aircraft in FSX and getting really into systems (have some 700hours logged online on VATSIM,) but this is THE steepest learning curve ever haha. Ive gone through most of the tutorials (only got DCS this morn) and its still miles above my head yet but i can see this is going to be a LOT of fun :) although i can see me wanting the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS very quickly (wife permitting lol) as i think that will help with all the various HOTAS arrangements! If anyone is looking for a Trainee recruit for a squadron then please let me know as i think working with others will bring this on a lot more! Simon 2

FlyinJ Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Something I found useful as someone who doesn't have a full HOTAS: You can map all the different HOTAS hats to a single flight stick hat, and use shift, alt, and ctrl to modify it. It also differentiates between the left and right shift, alt and ctrl as well. Then write down what each modifier does, and it will make your life a lot easier.
mic1184 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 haha good thread title, mate. welcome to the forum. and yeah. it's that good. If you find the learning curve too steep you're going to love active pause Shift+Win+Pause, so you can look in the manual while playing. in the meantime i feel very comfortable with my x-52 pro and don't think about the TM Warthog anymore. Just hang in there ;-) have fun [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] MB: DFI Lanparty UT P35-T2R CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 @ 3,6 GHz @ 1,328V VGA: MSI GTX460 HAWK @ 850/1700/1000 MHz MFCD: Eizo S2231 22" S-PVA RAM: A-Data Vitesta 2 x 2048 MB @ 960 MHz FLT EQPM: Saitek X-52 Pro, TrackIR 5
