Eldur Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 the waste of energy (some will see this more than others) Did you know, that a single Google search needs as much energy as it is needed to have a 11W light source on for one hour? I don't even want to know how much energy is needed for several GBs worth of download. BTW I still have some vinyl records... ;) Credit Cards are quite expensive in Germany. Don't know why, but that's the reason for me not to have one. Prepaids are even more expensive, but it would be the best solution in terms of security, especially concerning online payments or even PayPal. But I just don't want to shell out 40 Euros a year for a card that I need maybe once or twice in that fime frame. 99% of my payments are made via bank transfer, for rare occassions of international payments I use PayPal because it's easy, inexpensive (at least for me ;)) and widely accepted. I know that CCs are a lot more common in other countries... it's some kind of "German problem" :D
Rusty_M Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 The credit card situation seems to vary greatly from country to country then. As Conure said, they throw credit cards at students in the UK. Also, many credit cards here don't require an annual fee just to have anymore. I think that used to be more commonplace, but not now. You don't even have to pay any interest usually if you pay each and every bill in full, rather than just the minimum payment and on time. I only use mine for certain things, where there's a real benefit, and I've never paid a penny interest. the interest rate is extortionate. The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine! http://www.twitch.tv/rusty_the_robot https://www.youtube.com/user/RustyRobotGaming
