Hi,

A few times I've been in the middle of missions and noticed that where it normally displays the airspeed on the HUD, it's showing something else.

It's a 2-3 digit number that seems to vary based on altitude (with, I think, a value of 50 when I'm sat on the ground) and below it is displayed "RO".

Any ideas what I've done?

Cheers,

James

Did you turn the Pitot Heat on? That can affect reported speed I think, if it ices over at high alt or cold temps?

Me and my squad have had problems with no airspeed indication appearing in the HUD. The airspeed data block only shows the 'R0' DTOT dpart. Any ideas what might be causing this? It has happened after manual and automatic start ups.

Weird I just had this last night. Airspeed on HUD was showing 0 at all times, gauge was fine (hence Pitot was fine and yes Pitot heat was on).

Is there some OSB button somewhere that gets accidently clicked or when you go into test mode that changes this display?

When I switched to another jet after landing, the IAS was fine in that one.

For those of you that the HUD is displaying 0 airspeed:

- Try cycling Hud to IFCC TEST mode and back to ON.

The Second Number OP was talking about is the Required speed.

50 is just the minimum speed it displays, while you are e.g sitting on the Ramp.

R0 means the system cannot calculate required speed, or something...

The airspeed display only shows your airspeed. Values below 50 knots are reported as 50.

I believe you can set the speed that is displayed on HUD somewhere, was it under IFCC TEST mode, and some setting there..

IIRC it can be selected between IAS, TAS and Ground speed.

EDIT:

You can also set it in CDU POSITION page, but i'm not sure does it affect the HUD

CDU POS page setting doesn't affect the HUD, only the CDU POS page. I like to have the position page up with ground speed selected while flying (non-combat), and IAS/MACH on the HUD. I also use the CUD POS page with it set to show ground speed when taxiing, since I appear to be a bit of a revhead.

I'm on vacation so I have no reference, but there's a bit test that will resync your airspeed.

• IFFCC to test

• Rocker down to BIT and hit enter

• Choose the second of the two BIT tests (JRM? Someone confirm please) and hit enter to run it

• IFFCC back to on

This will resync your airspeed. When running the test notice that two of the voice responses are in a different voice :). I believe these tests are for systems that were removed for the non-milSpec version.

It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
