ScEBlack1 Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Which sound controls the engine volume in the sim? need to turn down my engine volume to be more realistic inside cockpit, thanks all.

ScEBlack1 Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 Thank you, wish it was separate so some sounds could remain and ones in particular you could turn down.
Nate--IRL-- Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Thank you, wish it was separate so some sounds could remain and ones in particular you could turn down. You could edit the SDEF files in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Sounds\sdef\Aircrafts\Engines Sounds used for engines in cockpit are ... EngineTF34GE100InL.sdef and EngineTF34GE100InR.sdef Add Gain = 0.5 to each (or adjust to your preference). DTWD Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Just a note, gain up = louder, gain down = quiter. Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ScEBlack1 Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 Nate could you please explain this more to me, does this mean you can increase/decrease the engine volume alone while keeping world relatively high volume? "Add Gain = 0.5 to each (or adjust to your preference)." do I simply increase/decrease this 0.5? Thank for the help.

By adding the line Gain = 0.5 you are halving the volume of that sound. Gain = 1 means no volume change, 2.0 is twice the volume etc.etc. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

I was poking around a couple of days ago to find out what sdef file controlled the in cockpit engine sound so I could turn it down but after a couple of tries I gave up (didn't try those files though). Will try your suggestion to see how it goes. Slight gripe here Nate though.... A couple of days ago I posted a thread there in this forum about the engine sounds seeming to be louder post patch. That thread got moved to the Sound subforum in the tech support area and no one replied to it there. A similar question gets posted here in this form and it is promptly replied to. Are ED people actually reading through the threads in the tech support area or are they just sent there to die?

It's a bit busy around here lately, stuff will get missed. Sorry. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
zamboni Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) It's a bit busy around here lately, stuff will get missed. Sorry. Nate No problem Nate. The fix works like a charm EXCEPT you need to add gain = 0.5 upper case G will not work, it has to be lower case (for me at least) Edited March 9, 2011 by zamboni had a - in there that shouldnt be
Kuky Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 negative value will not work... you can use gain = 0.5 which will be 1/2 the volume of the sound file PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
zamboni Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 negative value will not work... you can use gain = 0.5 which will be 1/2 the volume of the sound file thanks for pointing that out, I mistakenly put a - in there (and took it out now :) )
