Zenra Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I have searched here and in the tech support forum but have not found a solution to an issue I have with TIR in DCS A-10C just yet (so, apologies if this has already been covered, but I did try!): I just got Track IR 5 (and I love it, don't know how I ever did without it, highly recommend it to anybody reading this, etc., etc...) but cannot get the alternate key assignments I set to stick when I start flying the DCS A-10C. I created a new profile in TIR, assigning the Up Arrow (tried Scroll Lock, too) as the hotkey for the "Center" function, saved, and tested fine using the TIR "Visual Preview". I start A-10C and delete the key assignments for all of the arrow keys, save the profile, and go to fly. Once I am in the cockpit the TIR Center function is back to the default F12 assignment:helpsmilie: I also set the Profile for the DCS A-10C in the TIR "Titles" list to be the new one I created, but once back in the cockpit the Center function was still mapped to F12. I know I am missing something very fundamental here, but somebody please lay it on me - it's a minor inconvenience but frustrating because I've already spent too much time fussing with it instead of flying! Galwran Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I suggest that you use the forum's search function for a nicer answer, but the quick and dirty fix to that problem is this: 1) Make a TIR profile with your preferred key assignments, save that profile file on your desktop. 2)go to "c:\program files\naturalpoint\track ir 5" or where ever you installed the software. 3)locate the TIR profile files folder, make backup of them somewhere and delete all of the profiles in that folder. 4)copy your "good" profile file from the desktop in to the Track-Ir profiles folder and rename it "default" or whatever the name of the default file was. Voila! That way TIR cannot forget your settings even if you multitask because it knows ONLY your settings, which become the new default:smartass:
andysim Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 i set my chosen profile for TIR to "Exclusive" as its good for all my flight sims, it will use you current settings for everything. I also find its better to start the track IR software as Admin.
Zenra Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 Thanks for the quick answers, guys. I had overlooked the "Exclusive" setting and will try that first, but replacing the default file sounds like an ultimate, "brute force" method to make it take, too. Bahger Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 SHift F12, Shift F7 and Shift F9 work for me. I set them in TIR and then map them to a hat in my HOTAS control software. I use the shifted slots on the DMS castle joystick hat. I'm not sure what you are doing with the A-10 control profile, however. You shouldn't have to fiddle with that (well, not if it reads commands from your HOTAS, anyway). Do not use arrow keys for TIR, they affect pitch and roll functions in the sim. You need to find spare key commands, which is not all that hard with TIR as it will accept chorded (i.e. Shift +, Control +) key combos. Hope this helps.
S77th-konkussion Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Make sure the "trap" box is checked. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
Kankkis Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I have same problem at first too, put your a-10 profile to black shark sim too. i mean same profile those 2 games, if you have default profile in black shark, when you launch a-10 it load black shark profile, in this case default. Exlusive method works too. Hope it helps, helped me. Kankkis
WRFirefox Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 ...same problem here four weeks ago - set your Profile to "Exclusive" and everything will work fine....(as andysim post before)
Zenra Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 ...same problem here four weeks ago - set your Profile to "Exclusive" and everything will work fine....(as andysim post before) Thanks again everyone - setting the "Exclusive" flag does the trick, and it makes sense (once I read that part of the fine manual :book:) - essentially does the same thing as making my new profile the default for all "TIR Enhanced" titles...
