tyrspawn Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I am looking to get some sort of IR head movement solution after realizing that the free look features suck in DCS A-10. It's basically impossible to keep SA while having to constantly worry about manually zooming in to various cockpit areas. So, does anyone use facetrack? I heard some initial reports that it was buggy but that it apparently was smoothed out in later versions? Does anyone know how it compares to freetrack? I am trying to avoid spending a huge amount of money on something like Track IR.
Kenan Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Granted, TrackIR may be costly but I have mine for almost 5 years so in a long run, it definetelly pays off rather then having to deal with "make it yourself" alternatives. Boberro Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I made my FT and it is still working after 2 years :P Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
wtfisgoingon Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I got TrackIR5 for $130. I spent a few minutes looking at the cheaper or free alts for it but I decided that I just wanted a good one that worked. I'd never even used one before buying it but after buying it I think its well worth $150. I'd even pay a bit more. That being said I've never tried the other ways but I can't imagine that they work any better so I'm satisfied. Truth be known I bet a lot of us have blown equal to or more than that on absolutely nothing of value at all :D i7-920 @3.8Ghz / MSI X58m / 8GB DDR3 / 2 x HD5770 / Asus-vw226h @1920x1200 / 2x OCZ Vertex 2 80GB SSD's / Win 7-64 / TrackIR 5 / Saitek x52 / Razer BlackWidow Mech Keyboard / Razer Deathadder Stuttering or fps problems? jeffyd123 Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 i tried face track and it worked but it was like i was drunk. it kept wandering around. I was using a high end camera with a lot of light (a 150 W spotlight actually) on my face (yes it sucked). Too bad... I really had high hopes for it. I too was forced to break down and become a Borg with a TIR but the dam thing works great. i7 8700K @ 4.4Ghz, 16G 3200 RAM, Nvidia 1080Ti, T16000 HOTAS, TIR5, 75" DLP Monitor
tyrspawn Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 Unfortunate. Oh well, guess I will have to bite the bullet one of these days and buy Track IR.
