This game, particularly the campaigns has been for me a source of frustration mixed with very fleeting satisfaction. But I've put in about a week of creating and flying missions with the mission generator and I've been feelin' the thrill ever since. I am mentioning this because I think there must be players like myself who were in limbo struggling with performance and AI issues with the campaigns. Giving up on that, they have resorted to tinkering with simple homemade missions to practice different aspects of the game while hoping that the future brings some improvement. Missions created with the mission generator or the nodes (basically the same thing but you see the general placement of red and blue forces) are tactically rich but without the system-dragging eye candy of the campaigns--which I cynically feel were included in part to simulate something of the Falcon 4 DC environment. And I've just learned by reading the excellent SimHQ review of WH that at least one JTAC is generated as well (usually freq 131.0 or 132.0). Just add weather, tanker, and your favorite weapons mix and you've got 100s of hours of gameplay even if multiplayer and the campaigns continue to have issues.

For the first time I am happy with this sim.

Concur. Gives a great random base to create variety. I was earlier today contemplating the possibility of being able to quickly create small campaigns with MG generated missions. Edited and customized to fit a storyline.

The good thing is it populates at your whim allowing easy adding and subtracting of units.

Great suggestion, Nate. The art is in finding the vehicle(s) designated as JTACs so that you can change the frequency. I wish JTACs were designated clearly in the editor (or perhaps I should say I wish I knew how they are designated). Anyway, enough wishing and back to enjoying. I had a mission today which was the most realistic combat experience I have ever had in any of the dozens of simulators I've had the pleasure to play.

I can't wait to get my Ka50 into this environment.
