TigersharkBAS Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Hi gents, I am seriously considering starting a site to store a lot of the knowledge in this forum into an easily referenced repository for all things A-10C. I am frustrated at losing track of some the gems contained within threads and there is a real opportunity to create something great here. My questions are: 1) Would people want it? 2) Most importantly, would you be willing to share your stuff from here on it 3) Would those people who have done SketchUp drawings and schematics be willing to give these to the site as well for others to use and learn from? Sound off. Would like to get your opinions. KLaFaille Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Are thinking of a dedicated forum along the lines of ViperPits.org or just a data repository / wiki like JimMack mentioned?
icemaker Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 My answers are : 1) Of course YES 2) YES 3) If i make some i will And if you need help i'm your man...
TigersharkBAS Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 I was thinking along the lines of a dedicated Website. Structured with sections on panel making, component sourcing, CAD drawings, etc. It would be a human made snythesis of the valuable info put in these forums. It would not be another forum. A Wiki might be able to handle this, but it is for cooperative authoring. This is more for consumption not collaborative authoring. Ideas: Panel dimensions Panel CAD drawings Panel makers (where you can source them) Fonts for panels Switch types and where to get them. Interfaces from panels to PC Pit building Electronics that can be used for pits (ie. RWR and CMs dsiplays) etc. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Creator of: F-18C VFA-195 "Dambusters" 1998 CAG Livery https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=213788 F-18C VFA-195 "Dambusters" July 2001 CAG Livery https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215950 Pilot avatars for DCS Logbook https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=221160 How to make a DCS A-10C Panel http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=65998
TigersharkBAS Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 Thinking more...it could even be divided up by panel. For example....a section called Electrical Power Panel. Contains: - Pic from sim - Pic from real life - Dimensions of panel - Switches required - Sketchup or CAD drawing you can download - Sample builds from the community etc..etc [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Creator of: F-18C VFA-195 "Dambusters" 1998 CAG Livery https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=213788 F-18C VFA-195 "Dambusters" July 2001 CAG Livery https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215950 Pilot avatars for DCS Logbook https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=221160 How to make a DCS A-10C Panel http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=65998

TigersharkBAS Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 PS. I have looked at the wiki and it is really quite good. I am not sure though that we could add to it without polluting it with our "specialist" requirements. Something I threw together https://sites.google.com/site/thewarthogpit/panel-database/electical-power-panel [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Creator of: F-18C VFA-195 "Dambusters" 1998 CAG Livery https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=213788 F-18C VFA-195 "Dambusters" July 2001 CAG Livery https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215950 Pilot avatars for DCS Logbook https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=221160 How to make a DCS A-10C Panel http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=65998
Hedman Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Since I'm planning on building an A10C-cockpit my answers are: 1. yes, 2. yes and 3. yes. I think it's important for most of us to get ideas and hints for interfacing. This is the hardest nut to be cracked. And: yes, most information is already available in the forum but spread over hundreds of threads. jan
