I think I saw some mention of this problem in a thread after the .6 patch, but I'll be damned if I can find it.

Basically, I feel I am seeing more shimmering or aliasing on the edges of objects etc since the last patch. I haven't change my settings I normally use.

These are: AAx2 - set in game and AFx16 set through the driver.

I would take some screen shots to illustrate, but I don't think that would help as firstly I cant take any screen shots of how it use to look and secondly, it is most noticeable when the view is in motion.

I can see it quite well, for example on the edges of the UFC and HUD frame. Also, an increased Moire effect on MFCDs, especially the TAD (those range circles really show up the Moire effect more than they used to I'm convinced)

It is visible every where, its almost like I am on 1xAA now or some thing. Hard to explain

Anyone else have any similar results or ideas on this?

I have some probs with AA and gtx275 neither. If i set 16x in driver it doesnt have any affect. Looks like 1x. Usually, i play with 4xAA at 1600x900 (+1024x768 2nd screen) and i noticed if i use driver's 4xAA my fps is pretty good 40-70, but if i set in game 4xAA, for some reason i have huge fps drop. Like from 50-70 to 20-30 while flying empty map in editor.

What model of videocard do you use?

If it's an AMD card, try enabling Adaptive Anti Aliasing or even Super Sampling Anti Aliasing in your Catalyst Control Centre....be prepared for big FPS drops though ;)

Sorry, forgot to mention my card, I use a gtx295. I don't really want to solve it by using some thing like Super Sampling (as you say this will cripple performance), thanks for the suggestion though. It may be worth trying temporarily to see what difference it makes. I'm wondering what was changed in the patch.

I recall a setting in a racing sim called Live For Speed that was called MipMap Bias. When it was set toward a more extreme setting it would cause the kind of effect I'm seeing. If that makes any sense. I'm not really sure what mip map bias does, it seems like anisotropic filtering but some what different.
