Hey peeps,

I am kind of thinking on how much money I would save in having a PC at the girlfriends, for various reasons, fuel and food etc work being so much closer etc.

So my signature rig is pretty good but no-one ever wants to downgrade do they?

I normally build my own PC's but the cost comparisons between pre-built and home built is negligible.

This had caught my eye http://3xs.scan.co.uk/ShowSystem.asp?SystemID=1243

So the question is after the huge preamble is- Anyone running 560's in SLI?

Anyone comment on scan prebuilt machines and is it possibly overkill?

Oh and I need a new HOTAS to go with it. TM warthog is the choice but I am worried about all the negative vibes:cry:

Regarding TM Warthog - it's fantastic. It had some teething issues when it was just released, but I find it a solid piece of kit.

Regarding 560 SLI, I'm not convinced of the merits really. A 560 is good enough on it's own, and if you want more power I'd honestly recommend a 570 or 580 instead. But that said - I haven't tested it myself so can't really say for sure. But as far as the WH HOTAS - don't worry about it. It's awesome. However - do remember that it has no twist-stick for rudder, so you would need a rudder setup as well.

Thanks.

I have saitek rudder pedals best thing I ever got for flying*

Maybe the 570 is the route I should go. I have been looking more at the results/comparisons and can see the benefits, I still hanker for some multi monitor setup in the future which will be a consideration for the 2nd card or triplehead to go (this has screen resolution limitations?)

The MESH option looks good but I would need to check out their site. I want to be able to choose all the components. MESH cases used to suck for instance:megalol:

Seems like the Warthog is ok now they have the new fw. I would always wait at least 6 months before buying something like that new. Wait and see what problems it has and hopefully they will be fixed within that time. I'd hate to pay $500 dollars and have it not work or break. I'd also love to have your current computer, look at me sig :(

I run two screens with my single 560Ti, though the second screen rests with windows with aero for the games. Typical example of my usage is A-10C on the main screen while Aljazeera stream is on the second stream.

can 4 monitors be run off an nvidia card as with ati cards?

I believe if you buy 2 cards, I don't think they can do more then 2 at a time.

Currently nVidia does not have an alternative to Eyefinity.

590 can do surround view of 3 monitors I believe. Of course a 5870 can do 6 on a single card.

I am thinking now after digesting replies and other research get a 560/70 to replace the 295. Stick that in my son's rig and use that at the g/f. When I can afford 2 more DELL monitors to add to my current one I will still have the option of adding SLI.

Thanks all for your thoughts.

Off to order my THW and new GPU:thumbup:

560 SLI blows a single 580 out of the water without even trying for just a little more money. It also gives you the opportunity to run a triple monitor setup, wich a single Nvidia card will not.

This is in norwegian, but the charts should be pretty obvious:

Remember that you need a powerful PSU, I'd guess at least 850w and preferably 1000w to run it.

In retrospect I regeret that I went with a single 580 and not this option myself.

You still have to remember on how much DCS:WH gains with SLI ;)

Thanks for link Udat,

I have already ordered the ASUS 580 so no hankering for SLI for a year or two:music_whistling:

I always use the best PSU's I can afford when building a system. The current build has a 1.1KW coolermaster modular one so should be capable> off to dig out the spare cables;)
