Baggy MacDouche Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I'm still pretty new to this sim, but I feel like I've been making a lot of good progress. I want to get into more of the meat of the sim, but I know there is no dynamic campaign yet(is there ever going to be one?). I've tried a couple of the stock campaigns but got stopped by the various known bugs. I've played around a bit with some of the SP missions, but I'm wondering what most folks around here are doing. Are there any good user created SP missions/campaigns worth trying out? I'm still not sure about multi-player. For one, I don't always have much free time and it can be hard to plan for specific times. The idea intrigues me, but I don't know much about it. Any advice? kingneptune117 Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Here is a section of this forum dedicated to user created missions! http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=140 Also, I suggest playing the quick start missions or making some easy practice missions to get all the basics down. Once you get pretty good, join a virtual squadron. Flying online is a lot more fun than single player. OPPSpectre Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I never started any Campaign missions or pre-made missions. I started off playing Mission Generator missions and then finally went to multiplayer. I was kind of nervous about playing online, but I found Iron Angels Server is pretty "noob-friendly" and a nice place to get used to flying with others before you move on to something more complex like VFS.
jeffyd123 Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 definitely no substitute for having a teacher on comms... you can learn the ins and outs about 5 times faster. I self-learned Falcon 4 and it took me 3 weeks just to learn how to land.... a teacher (even though the falcon tutorial system was very good) would have had me landing perfectly in about 3 days i bet. when i started this sim, i just jumped in and did quick missions and started by getting used to the plane and firing the gun at large oil tanks, then gunning vehicles, then i started learning to use the HOTAS and mavericks/bombs. learning falcon 1st took many, many hours off my learning time. If you are new to sim flying, then reading up on flight basics is sort of essential, then start shooting stuff and having fun, then keep on learning your multi-million dollar toy! There's lots of great, experienced pilots here that are always glad to help you out. One of the greatest things of getting online with people is the creation and execution of the tatics to be successful.... its probably my favorite part of air battle simming. WarriorX Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 You can play the User Created Multiplayer Missions by creating a LAN server that you can password and play the mission by yourself. RichardG Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 (edited) I use the quick mission generator, because I hate making missions. Whats fun about that?? I set enemy ground forces to max, no air, and very few friendly ground troops (cause they shoot and kill the enemy before I can :) . I then edit the mission, and place a Predator drone at 25,000 feet as AFAC orbiting the enemy lines. The AFAC will walk you into the targets via 9 lines, etc. Its good fun.
