Nu-NRG Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I landed the aircraft at my first try. Are training missions in any way scaled back when it comes to realism? Or is that IT? Question about that same training mission. Instructor says that you should set heading of 130 on HSI ... doh, that is where the runway is heading. But! Where did he get that number ... or better yet ... where did I miss it? :helpsmilie: Thank you for all your answers! Aviate - Navigate - Communicate
shu77 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I think its on the divert page of the CDU? I know it is on the diagram. chaos Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I landed the aircraft at my first try. Are training missions in any way scaled back when it comes to realism? Or is that IT?! Realism is not scaled back in training missions. What can I say? Obviously your callsign is "Maverick" .. :) To really prove you're actually Chuck Yeager, try it with some crosswind and a little bit of turbulence. I want to see the track as evidence :) "It's not the years, honey. It's the mileage..."

chaos Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Old simmer actually and it seems experience is still there :Ds) Welcome back then :D ! Aye to the rudder pedals. I'd like to have a pair as well. Good to see 'old-timers' coming back.... "It's not the years, honey. It's the mileage..."

Itkovian Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 From what I've read in A-10 books, it would seem the pilots agree the A-10 is a superb flyer with few vices. So I just think the A-10 is simply an easy plane to land. Behaves well at low speeds and is very forgiving of less-than-perfect touchdowns. I haven't blown any tires yet, and I make it a point to do a landing a day (while I'm still learning the avionics). Itkovian
Nu-NRG Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 One more question regarding runway heading: If 13 means 130 then i would dare to assume that 9 means 90? Aviate - Navigate - Communicate

Nu-NRG Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 Yep :) If the two yellow needles did not show on approach nor did AOA work despite being in ILS mode and tuned in to airfields ILS ... maybe i was just coming in from the wrong direction. Even tho, the side glide slope indicator was working and it did pick up the signal cause it turned of the red flag and was moving :P Aviate - Navigate - Communicate
MTFDarkEagle Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 You might want to switch the PTR switch (to the right of HARS and left of EGI on the NMSP (Navigation Mode Select Panel) to ABLE for you to get the ILS indicator on the ADI.
