miguelaco Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 What about SPI broadcast? Wonder if anyone can confirm it's working now in MP.

aaron886 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I'll be doing some testing with a group of 5 or 6 tonight, will report back. CAT - sounds like user error may be at fault. Always assume that first, it's a policy that has helped me learn a lot!
zamboni Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 This is a product of another issue, ensure your Group ID on the Datalink Network is set to 01. Nate Thanks for pointing this out....wasn't sure if it was supposed to be fixed in the patch or a later one. Didn't want to post a thread for something that didn't get fixed ;)
mia389 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Yes broadcast spi works. Worked on my server all afternoon. Messages can now be sent as well

Yup, the vast majority of times people come on here self-righteously criticising ED for some "bug" and just make a fool of themselves. miguelaco Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 SPI broadcasting worked fine for us at the weekend. Nate Tested yesterday and works rather well. However, it's not as accurate as expected. I was broadcasting my SPI from TGP while tracking a tank as point. My partner took my SPI, hooked on it and made SPI from TAD. China fwd long and his TGP pointed a few meters out of the tank. I don't know if this accuracy is according to real life behaviour or something to worry about. Thanks for the response.

miguelaco Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Yes, engaged laser ranging and didn't get the solid L replacing T. Since laser ranging was broken in 1.1.0.6, I suppose it didn't get solved for 1.1.0.7 but didn't tried thoroughly. Can you confirm my results?
Nate--IRL-- Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Laser ranging does work, but the indications on the MFCD don't (Yet). I have confirmed this myself setting markpoints on an object with and without the laser. Make sure the L is flashing when Broadcasting SPI Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
miguelaco Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Thanks!! Good to know is working, even without MFCD indication it'll be useful. I'll try tonight engaging laser while broadcasting SPI.

It might be because the refresh rate of broadcasted SPI is quite long (around 5 seconds I think), so if you're broadcasting your SPI while tracking a moving target, it will be hard for your teammate to know which unit you're pointing on If you broadcast static targets your teammate should have his TGP really close to the target, if not right onto it 92nd Kodiak Air Force - May the Greuh be with you
