goldfinger35 Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 (edited) I have created a small mod - it adds sound of pilot breathing through oxygen mask. 1. Go to directory dcs a-10c/sounds/effects/aircrafts/cockpits rename FuelPump.wav to FuelPump.wav.orig copy attached file FuelPump.wav to that directory. 2. Go to directory dcs a-10c/sounds/sdef/aircrafts/cockpits rename FuelPump.sdef to FuelPump.sdef.orig copy attached file FuelPump.sdef to that directory. Note that sound is taken from =TuAF= Squadron Most Realistic Sound Pack v1.0 for Lock-On so all credits go to original author. mtuckner Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Does the breathing increase during high G manuevers or is it just a static continual breathing sound.?
goldfinger35 Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 (edited) I have found one solution to simulate increased breathing during high G maneuvers. 1. Go to directory dcs a-10c/sounds/effects/aircrafts/a-10/cockpit rename A10_StallWarnChopped.wav to A10_StallWarnChopped.wav.orig copy attached file A10_StallWarnChopped.wav to that directory. 2. Go to directory dcs a-10c/sounds/sdef/aircrafts/a-10/cockpit rename A10_StallWarnChopped.sdef to A10_StallWarnChopped.sdef.orig copy attached file A10_StallWarnChopped.sdef to that directory. Note that this can be used solo or with above mentioned mod.Pilot breathing sounds - high G manuevers.rar Edited April 10, 2011 by goldfinger35 i7 920@4.0Ghz, 12 GB RAM, ATI 4890, LG L246WHX@1920x1200, Saitek X52 Pro, Saitek pro flight rudder pedals, TrackIR4, Audigy 2ZS, Logitech G9x, Vista 64bit.
Zorg_DK Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 is the oxygen sound played only when oxygen supply is on or does it play all the time? "There are only 10 types of people in the world — those who understand binary, and those who don't." [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
goldfinger35 Posted April 10, 2011 Author Posted April 10, 2011 It uses FuelPump sound so it is on when fuel pump/engine is running. i7 920@4.0Ghz, 12 GB RAM, ATI 4890, LG L246WHX@1920x1200, Saitek X52 Pro, Saitek pro flight rudder pedals, TrackIR4, Audigy 2ZS, Logitech G9x, Vista 64bit.
Zorg_DK Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Ah I see. "There are only 10 types of people in the world — those who understand binary, and those who don't." [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
PlainSight Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Does the breathing increase during high G manuevers or is it just a static continual breathing sound.? I dont' think you need special breathing in 3 or 4 g manoeuvres. This is not a fighter plane. Check out Jetstream, rookies are pulling 4g with ease. [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

AlphaOneSix Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Wow. If this sound only played when the mic switch is depressed, then I'd be okay with it. If it plays all the time, then it's amazingly unrealistic. Your ears are on the side of your head, not next to your mouth. We only hear this breathing sound from tapes because the microphone is near the mouth. You don't hear yourself breathing unless you have side tone from a radio/intercom. Or this is actually a good thing to use to simulate a constant hot mic.

Most of the time, the sounds your body makes are transmitted much more via skullbone to the ears rather than via air, but i agree that the breathing sound is most likely masked by far louder surrounding noises. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Cali Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 A 4g turn is not hard at all, I felt it when we did the 6.5g turn though. But everyone is different, I didn't do anything over 6.5g's, I think 9g's would have crippled me. LMAO, "I'm losing it" not yet it's only 2g's, ok" That had me crying! i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
