lanmancz
Im having this problem with my wingman (set at excellent skill): I created my own mission and I put some SAMs and AAA in the target area. Naturally I want to get rid of SAMs first so I locate 2 of them, send wingman to destroy the first one with mavricks, while I get the second one. So far okay, but the trouble is that my wingman always gets shot down. I am able to lock and fire the mavrick on that target from distance of about 7 nm and then clear back to find more targets with ease but my wingman, as soon as I give him the command to engage air defences at my spi with mavricks, goes right at them and doesn't shoot the missile until he's almost on top of them. Then he gets shot down by the other SAMs in the area of course. I also tried just to wait for his message "missile away" and the call him back to formation asap but its always too late. He just gets too close. So far I always had to destroy all the SAMs myself while wingman was just folowing me in formation and then let him attack other targets like AAAs and tanks withs mavs. Am I doing something wrong ? Is there a way to tell wingman not to get so close ? edit > im running the 1.1.0.7 version and I watched wagmatts recent video about wingmen command but no luck so far. Zenra
This is a common problem. Some have luck issuing "attack with..." orders on a specific target that you SPI and broadcast, but I haven't. Insead I am trying tigerrrr's AI Mod with some success. Wingmen definitely engage at a greater distance, so I think it's a good workaround until the AI gets fixed (hopefully) in a future patch.
