Tangolima600 Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Hey guys, sorry if this has been answered earlier but the way I see Jtac being used is somewhat scripted, as in you need to manually enter a unit to task you when you're in the air. What I'm trying to see if possible is to check in with said Jtac, then orbit as enemies come into their view, then call you for a fire mission rather than check in then get targets, then check out. Let me know of any suggestions :)
Cibit Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Wait till my MP mission is available:) I don't think what you want is possible ATM, pity cause it would be nice:thumbup: i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
nomdeplume Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I'm pretty sure the existing JTAC can do that. It's a long time since I've used it, but one of the responses I've had is "no tasking available for now, stand by" and then they'd contact you once you they had a target. As always, I'm not sure exactly what the prerequisites are for that to take place. Possibly an 'enroute task' for the JTAC assigning a particular group, but when that group is not yet visible to the JTAC unit?
Cibit Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I am testing stuff like this atm and leaving them the default fac allows them to allocate targets as they see them. i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
andysim Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 If you make the Jtac an airbourn Jtac, (the Predetor drone is awsome for this) he will start calling out targets he can see, Unless its changed since Beta4 when I last tried it =)
Cibit Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Yeah that still works. In the MP AFAC I am working on I have 3 other FAC'z to help. These all have default FAC assigned in the advanced tab and all report targets via JTAC radio:) My problem is I would like them to only talk to the AFAC and not the strike flights.:book: i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
Bahger Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I'm not sure but I have a hunch that JTACs perform tasks in the order listed in the advanced waypoint menu, thus they can, I believe, be assigned multiple targets but cannot work them simultaneously. I have yet to test this but I suspect that once the first target has been destroyed, the JTAC will be available to frag the next one. I think...
Frederf Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I was wondering if you can't script it so you place down a trigger zone and if an enemy walks into trigger zone it would be added as JTAC target. I've also seen the "see and JTAC adds for himself" thing but it was real flaky.
Druid_ Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 multiple JTACs all using same frequency & callsign with AI ON and AI OFF based on triggers might work but you'd have to be damn careful not to have more than one similar JTAC active at same time. Careful planning req'd. i7-7700K : 16Gb DDR4 2800 Mhz : Asus Mobo : 2TB HDD : Intel 520 SSD 240gb : RTX 2080ti: Win10 64pro : Dx10 : TrackiR4 : TM Warthog : ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q

Right:thumbup: Bahger sorry I never got round to joining you on TS yet, I got stuck into the editor trying to sort out the SEAD and helo flights and the delay for radio commands. Then the scoring for the mission goals  i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB

Your posts where most helpful when I first got into the betas:) The JTAC defining own targets work well for me. I think LOS is important for ground forces and today in testing I had 3 different FACS working for me on 3 seperate frequencies i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
Tangolima600 Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 Sounds like something to suggest for a future patch. On a similar note, is it possible to designate which type of marker a JTAC will use to reference the target? The mission I made will not even give me a marker at all, any ideas?
