Youngmedic Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 I have lightly searched for this and am not really finding anything near what im looking for. It seems every time I see action, my MFD's are immediately knocked out by AA guns, Like the first hit, i get the same failure everytime, left mfd, digital clock, airspeed etc... are knocked out, and theres not much else i can do for the rest of the mission. Is there anyway to correct this in flight, besides not get hit? :D From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered- We few, we happy few, we band of brothers
636_Castle Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 You can turn on the "immortal" option under the game settings. Otherwise no, you can't do repairs in-flight. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] How To Fix Your X-52's Rudder!

Frederf Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Set autopilot, tie rope to canopy frame, jettison canopy, climb out with speed tape, coil of wire, and scissors. Once system is fixed climb back in and haul in canopy with rope. 1

shu77 Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 It did occur to me at one point that the MFCD's were a bit like the exploding consoles from the enterprise. I went through a run of about 30 of them going, but havent had one in ages now. OutOnTheOP Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Oh, great. Thanks, Shu. Now every time I take a minor hit and lose an MFCD, I'm going to imagine it exploding in a shower of sparks and some nameless redshirt pirouetting theatrically from it to their demise. It will be distracting. But also hilarious.

RichardG Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Learn to use the other MFCD. Both MFCDs can display all the system and sensor information.

bartleby Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 How which page of the manual covers this... Press and hold one of the bottom OSBs of the operational MFCD. A screen should open showing all the different options. Click the one you want, then the bottom OSB you want to apply it to. http://www.dcswiki.com/index.php?title=Display_program_MFCD_page_(A-10) I think you might be able to hit DMS down to swap, too. I forget if this works when one MFCD is not operational. DCS Wiki! :book:

bartleby Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Speaking of the MFCD screen not working with 1 MFCD down: is this intended behavior? It worked in the early betas afaik What do you mean? The other one should still work if the other is damaged. DCS Wiki! :book:
luza Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Currently MFCD swap does not swap when you have a broken MFCD :/ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Frostiken Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 No. You can't use the HOTAS command to swap left/right screens when one screen is down. This is probably a bug, but I imagine it would also depend on the type of failure. I'm not familiar with the A-10 graphics processor but in 'reality', if the video triax lines or the screen itself were damaged, there should be no problem swapping screens, though I imagine if the graphics processor has a bridge failure (ie: a round physically damaged the LRU) it could cause issues. Either way the rational behavior for me is that tapping the coolie hat down should swap screens even when one is inop and to that extent this should be considered a bug. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Frederf Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 It's actually the CICU that's broken. The display is fine. Even though you can't use the coolie swap function you can still reassign the pages for the available MFCD.

Youngmedic Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 thanks for the good info fellas. Im still learning all the coolie hat functions etc... I was just wondering if there was a procedure for a reset and restart on the fly, like maybe the MFI is designed to shutdown as a protective measure and can be reconfigured etc.. Mostly the problem is not being able to use the DSMS to continue weapons delivery, I know you can use the coolie hat to cycle through the weapons with the HUD as SOI, but its just not as intuitive as point and click :smartass: From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered- We few, we happy few, we band of brothers
