Saitek has released new beta drivers for the center problem. They are avail on Saitek's web page in the Pro Flight Range, under Pro Flight X65F control system.

ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/beta/

Anyone having a problem with the controller "center" will probably want to check them out.

Also appears that MadCatz has taken over support on the web site (at least for this problem), after a very long period of no activity from Saitek on their own page.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOO

Now I just gotta buy one, lol. *Resumes searching on Ebay*

It sucks, there were TWO for like 130 on ebay and my dad couldn't get on the internet to snipe them! I really hope some more pop up D:

I was not aware there was a "centre" problem with the X65F. I was seriously considering one? Whats the nature of the centre problem, if I may ask?

Yeah I was trying to snipe them, one went for around 200 the other was like 180ish? There was a 3rd finished this morning, at 180ish... :( I should have spent a few extra bucks on my bid but I was being super cheap.

I too am on the hunt :D

This beta driver has been out since December. And no, it doesn't look like they ever plan on fixing anything.

What they did release recently is a beta of the SST for the X-65F(on the 28th of April).

As far as Madcatz handling support, yes, they have been handling it for a while now.

@Accipiter, there is a slight problem with some people's sticks not centering/calibrating properly when they first plug them in. The beta drivers help with that, but sadly while fixing the calibration issue, they also bug out the SST and refuse to allow you to change the default force sensitivity settings.

Edit: The new beta software seems to fix that issue.

Never really had the center problem that a lot of people have been complaining about. When the problem with remembering the force settings was reported with the beta drivers, never even bothered to install those. Haven't tried the recently released software in the link so can't comment on them.

Support at Saitek's web page was non existent. Only recently as far as the X65F section has there been a post of any nature and that was from Madcatz, this from Saitek's web page

Hi All,

This is the notes from the latest version of the callibration fix that will be going live on Thursday 28th April

· After calibrating, you will be able to continue to change force settings on the other F-modes.

· Calibrating will still only apply to the current F setting that the X65F has lit.

· Calibrating another F-mode will un-calibrate the previous mode and will then apply calibration to the current setting.

For example: You calibrate F4. Then decide to calibrate F3. F4 will become un-calibrated and F3 will be the calibrated mode. You can still change the settings for the X/Y/Rudder in each F-mode.

· The Programming software and the setting in game controllers will now synchronise. The ST will synchronise immediately with changes from the game controller force tab, but you will need to close down and re-open the game controller force tab to synchronise changes from the ST.

Kind Regards

Saitek Pro Flight

For awhile new users couldn't even sign on to the support forum. Don't know if that's been fixed.

Yeah, I can confirm that all issues regarding the changing of force setting is fixed when you install the new beta software package @

I paid $280 for mine on ebay so the $180 mark is a good deal. I lke mine but I will say the force sensing thing has its drawbacks. My main trouble is when pulling a long turn you really have to concentrate on the stick to keep from porpoising. Also the plug that goes in the stick is super shitty and hard to plug in when it falls out.

The centering issue isnt that big of a deal because you can dead zone it (and the dead zones can be offset to one side) Mine has a small center issue but it isnt a big deal.

That being said I do like my stick.... BUT, I do wish I looked at CH stuff first for the money.

One of the greatest things about the X65 is how you can change force settings on the fly... A very cool feature that I use every time I fly.... when Im on the ground I have it set to a light feel and when I get on the runway I turn it up so it takes a large amount of force to fly... kind of like a force feedback stick.... I like that.

Ive had mine for 6 months now and havent had one lick of trouble from the stick or the software... the quality is ood for the money. and if money is no object, then get the warthog as its very accurate for doung those farggin gun runs.

Did you get any of the ones that ended today? I got the one that was ~150. That Holydiver guy sells them in pairs every couple of days, looks like. Keep trying if you didn't get one.

And to everybody else, there seems to be a severe lack of video review for the X65, so I guess I'll take it upon myself to make one.

Hello everyone,

I've an x65f too (bought new on amazon), anyone has the Y Axis "going mad" every few minutes?

My stick does it with any driver version, beta included. It's broken or just a software issue? I've seen that this behavior happens more often when the stick is set on low force/movement ratio settings (default F3 or F4).

Magnus,

Never had the axis problems described by some on the forums or your Y axis one.

If you've tried all the basic trouble shooting tech's I would try the controller on another system to eliminate that possibility.

If your within the 30 day return for Amazon, I would return it for replacement with a new unit. Amazon is pretty good about that. Not having that option I would contact MadCatz for warranty replacement/repair.

Perhaps the new Saitek software will fix the problem for you.

Thank you for your answer.

I've sent it back to amazon this morning. It's an hardware issue, the force gauge is probably defective.

Sadly I can't have a replacement because amazon.it is out of stock for the x65f. Now I have to take the refund an go find it elsewhere.

Maybe I'll get a TM Warthog, but I find it a bit too clumsy for my desk.

Glad Amazon is taking it back for you. Know how frustrating waiting for something and it arriving defective. You could always place an order with Amazon and wait for the next bunch to arrive. I purchased mine direct from MadCatz when they first became avail. Paid full price, but got an extra years warranty so a trade off. Depending on how much your willing to pay, MadCatz has probably got them in stock.

See some mention to ebay having them, but last time I checked, most there were just as expensive as direct from MadCatz. Lot of options once you accept the price CH, TH, Saitek. All have plus's and minus's. I would look for some dealer, that accepts returns.. fewer these days, but the best insurance policy.

I have the X65F, a complete CH setup, and at one time a Cougar, sold the cougar and bought the CH.. it just was too much work to get it to work.

Good luck with what ever system you choose.

As as quick note, just jumped over to Saitek's site, and new beta drivers have been released for the X65F, yesterday 7.010.1. Only one posting review, claiming the problem has been fixed. A good sign that support seems to have come alive over at Saitek.

The link in my first post will get you to the site for the beta drivers and new SST for the X65.

I've found the 7.010 drivers yesterday, there is one of my posts up there that warns about the release. With a clean install on another system this morning the issue with the Y axis was not resolved so I claimed a defective piece to amazon.

I've found the x65f new at 299 € including shipping in italy. Amazon has TM Warthog at 312 €. With a so small price difference I think I'll get the Warthog :)

I finally updated my SST and drivers for the X65F. Uninstalled the old SST, installed new, then the new beta Drivers (this on a Win7 x64 system). No drama with the install. The new SST software and beta driver (7.010) appear to have fixed the center problem and saving of force settings.

In case any one is looking/thinking about the X65F Amazon has them for $309.00.

There are two files..

One File is the updated SST software 65.8meg SD7

Second File the latest driver beta 7.0.10 this is the 5 meg file of May 11th.

And the adventure continues,

While I had no problems installing SST 7 and the latest beta drivers, after a short period of time SST 7 would refuse to load. A restore back to before the update (Acronis backup) and reinstall went fine, SST 7 would load and then again a short time it would not. Three restores/install in a week. I believe it may have something to do with SST 7 having what looks like a "connection" to Saitek's web page, that shows on the Product screen of SST 7.

I reinstalled SST 6.80.52 with the new drivers and it loads fine. In SST 6, the setting's page shows no updates, but the control panel (Driver 7.0.10) does and the force settings stay set. The beta drivers appear to work fine with 6.80. SST 6 does not have the "connection" as on the 7's product page.

and.... new betas 7.0.10.6 for the X65 just released. Think I'll take a breather before doing the dance again. But a good sign someone is looking at the driver/software problems over at Madcatz/Saitek.

The glutton for punishment that I am (a firm believer of the school of banging my head against the wall, because it feels so good when you stop), I've loaded up SST7 with the new 7.0.10.6 drivers. Starting up fine right now. Time will tell. There is a link on the startup screen to take you to Saiteks home page. I suspect that this is whats causing the problem. Hoping the new drivers have fixed it. Saiteks forum gave notification of the driver update, but no details.

Also bit the bullet and ordered the Saitek Pro Pedals from Amazon. Free shipping and lower price amounts to about 10 per cent discount. and.. the option to return them.
