Arclight Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Try actually tuning the correct frequency. Easy comms might only simplify by not having to select the proper radio. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] DCS A-10C: putting the 'art' into 'warthog'. (yes, corny. Sorry.)

No, if you are using easy communication the radio and frequency are automatically selected when you select from the menu. ATC should not be black unless there is another issue with the radio. From pg 623 of the Flight Manual. Easy Communication is enabled. When the radio menu is displayed, recipients are color-coded as follows: Recipients on which at least one of the radios is tuned to is colored white. Recipients on which at least one of the radios can be tuned to but is not currently on the correct frequency is colored gray. Recipients that cannot be contacted due to range or terrain masking / earth curvature are colored black. Each will also have their modulation / frequency listed. When you select a recipient, the appropriate radio will automatically be tuned to communicate with the selected recipient. After a recipient has been selected to communicate with, the appropriate radio will be automatically tuned to the correct frequency. fael097 Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 ok, guess i got it. last question, what does the radio assists checkbox do? i dont see the difference, nor anything in the manual. KillaALF Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 GUI-manual, page 28: "Radio Assist. When enabled, you will get audio alerts informing you of incoming missiles, when you are within valid weapon use parameters, and information on the location of enemy units."
pixelpilot Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 yeh with easy coms the you should be seeing the list of people to talk to in light grey or white if your frequency is tuned (it'll tune itself if you're not) I hate to ask it but your radios are on? they need AC power from the apu generator before you can call the tower for startup. Any users of UK keyboards, the default binding listed as ' \ ' is actually the ' # ' key next to your enter key.
Frostiken Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 I've had the blacked out radios thing with easy comms on before, usually cycling radio power fixed it. Even still sometimes simply using the radio anyway would work... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
