Geezuz Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I've done all the tutorials that are available in the game. I know how to use TGP, am comfortable with all the weapon systems and the SOI / SPI system and have read quite a bit of the manual. When I create my own missions or fly some of the easy practice missions I'm doing fine - not always, but if I don't I know why. The campaign, however, is something else. There's is just so much going on that I don't understand. I've read the JTAC part in the manual, but using it while in the mission just doesn't seem to click for me. I've played sims for a long time now, and I don't even want to think about how someone would cope who's most realistic experience wasn't on a PC. The tutorials just in no way prepare you for an actual mission. Not even close. They're great to have, they're just not going far enough. I'd love at least something on communication. It seems so essential while on a mission, and it's not at all explained. Reading the manual only gets you so far, considering all the things you need to put into practice that you have only briefly read about. I guess what I am saying is, fantastic game, I just wish I'd be able to enjoy more of it!

-Ice Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 What I would suggest is - play a mission and identify the gaps in your knowledge. Then go out, practice them on TEs or custom missions, then try the first mission again. You will find that you will slowly "get it" as far as campaign mission goes. - Ice

I know how to use it - hotas and f-keys. I just don't know when to contact who, what to do with some/most of the information given etc. After playing more custom missions it's really the comms that are my issue, and making effective use of them.

Those youtube videos are a gold mine of valuable info/lessons:thumbup: Also, if you have a laptop, download a little free program called "youtube downloader" which enables you to save youtube videos to your PC for later viewing.
