I think I have an issue with my startup process.

Typically when I take off, the MFCD STAT screen shows EGI as INIT, however, when I power up the TGP, EGI flips to yellow and shows DEG. TGP just doesn't turn on.

Too soon?

Or am I missing a switch?

I'm basicly running a cold start procedure that mirrors the tutorial with the exception of cabin lights as needed.

Here's my track.

It's a pretty persistant issue, and I'm sure it's just something that I'm muffing up.

But it's definately making the tank busting missions hard.

Thanks for taking the time to point out which of my many issues is causing this.

You are starting to taxi before your navigation system has aligned itself, and I guess that's why the EGI is shown as degraded. You can see on the track that the alignment stops at T=2.8.3.2 on the CDU. You must wait until it reaches T=4.0.0.8 and you can see "INS NAV RDY" flashing on the CDU. Then, click the NAV OSB on your MFCD. Now, you'll also see on the stat page that EGI is shown as "valid".

The reason your targeting pod doesn't switch on, is that you haven't got a targeting pod on your aircraft :). You need to load one on the loadout screen along with your other weapons.

Thank you so much for looking that over.

Who'd have thought that I was moving too fast going through startup?

Once you start to get the hang of stuff, then you will use that time to set up weapon profiles and other options to make the systems suit your workflow. Don't worry, you'll get back to having the INS aligned before you're ready in notime! :)

Not to forget about the bugfix in 1.1.0.8 concerning the power system.

It'll give the possibility to power up the CDU and EGI as soon as the APU is up and running on 100 % and the APU Generator switch is set to on...

... that will save a lot of time in the start up process concerning the EGI alignment... ;)

Or you can use groundpower.

With it you can start the EGI earlier.

btw, there is a bug with groundpower. If you forget to switch it off you have groundpower during the whole flight. :D

I saw it after a flight. I switched off my power but my plane was still powered until i ordered the groundcrew to switch groundpower off.

I think they use a very long cable. :megalol:

Yeah...

Good point about the ground power.

Only problem is that they yell at you even though you order them to turn off the ground power bevfore you roll... :D

Concerning ground power in flight: I guess they induce the power from the air surrounding the jet... :P

Thanks for all the answers.

Not only did cooling my heels for a few extra minutes resolve the issues with EGI, it also solved an oddity that I was having with the EAC switch during startup.

It's rather rare these days to be able to ask a staight question on a game forum and get nothing but helpful answers.

Very appreciated.

They use an advanced form of inductive coupling using coils in left and right engine.

That's because the EAC isn't enabled until the nav system is up and running.

This is not MMO forum but Flight Sim forum. The respect levels between the two are like night and day. :D

What is happening to me lately is that I take off without SAS and TO trim. I notice that the moment jet gets airborne :D
