The thing is just landing would result in you being grounded probably.

Yeah but Im really talking about in the DCS sim world. In the real world if your jet was crippled then they would get you down in a safe manner. Or if there was too much chance of it going pear shaped you would eject and dump the jet in the desert.

Unfortunately DCS does not have that level of fidelity in the ATC, so I recommend ignoring the ATC and looking after no1. Note that "looking after no1" does not imply doing something obviously unsafe like cutting in dangerously close to other aircraft. But I am not going to blindly follow the instructions of an idiotic AI ATC. Besides sooner I get down the sooner I can get the jet fixed up and head back out. That wouldn't happen in RL either but we are not RL A10 pilots.

So I think you have to blend a bit of RL procedures with a bit of fantasy, just because ultimately we are doing this for fun and unfortunately the DCS world is not perfect yet.

I think the ATC has a very good point. If you managed to fly from the engagement zone with half a plane, possibly passing other closer airbases on the way, then surely you can wait a little bit for the traffic to clear.

Oh you're gliding around with no engines on manual reversion flight? I don't care. You will orbit at 12 thousand and that's that.

This is why we don't use sim ATC for our main base location within the 25th, we have a designated radio and frequency and we make all our calls on that channel, to include if you have an IFE...

So you have someone running ATC, or you just talk it out amongst yourselves?

The other day at our group we had 11 hogs and 6 sharks airborne and we just all called it out ourselves and no one crashed. Having someone running as ATC could work but could be a bit boring in a long mission.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
